Feyenoord vs Ajax Match Prediction

By Marius Hrebenciuc

Second will take on third on Sunday afternoon in the Eredivisie, as Feyenoord welcome Ajax at the Stadion Feijenoord. Feyenoord only registered a nil-nil home draw against PEC Zwolle last time out in the Eredivisie despite the fact they had an overwhelming 67% ball possession and 18 goalscoring attempts. Meanwhile, Ajax won comfortably 4-0 at home against Sparta Rotterdam thanks to goals from David Neres and Amin Younes and two own-goals from Ryan Sanusi and Sheral Floranus. Below we have our betting tips, predictions, team news, match stats and odds all in our SBAT preview. Feel free to visit our Bet of the day page to check our best daily tips.

Betting Predictions and Tips

Ajax are the in-form team here and I think that they should be able to continue their recent run of form, especially because Feyenoord had to play a midweek game against Shakhtar Donetsk. Furthermore, Feyenoord have only won once in their last five home games across all competitions, while Ajax are undefeated in four away fixtures.

Feyenoord Preview

Feyenoord looked sharp in this early part of the season, but their recent run of form has seen them lose five, draw one and win two of their last eight games across all competitions. They are still unbeaten in two Eredivisie fixtures, conceding none in the process, but they succumbed to a narrow 1-2 home loss at the hands of Shakhtar Donetsk in their Champions League midweek clash. They sit at the bottom of the group F table with no points to their name after three rounds, although they still have a slim chance to finish third as they are just three points behind Napoli. Regarding their Eredivisie campaign, Ajax find themselves in the second spot in the table tied on 16 points with the third-placed Feyenoord, already five points behind the current leaders PSV Eindhoven. Despite their struggle throughout this campaign, Feyenoord still hold the joint best defensive record in the division with just six goals conceded in eight rounds. Their home form has let them down as they have only won once in their last five games across all competitions and the most worrying fact is they have failed to score in three of these. The good news is that they are undefeated in the last three home meetings with Ajax across all competitions, conceding just twice in this term.

Feyenoord Team News

Kevin Diks and Renato Tapia are both doubts, while Jan-Arie van der Heijden is out through a calf injury. The good news is that Kenneth Vermeer is back in training.

Ajax Preview

Ajax, on the other hand, have enjoyed an incredible run of form over the past two months, having lost just once in their last seven games across all competitions. They head into this tie high on confidence following their recent two 4-0 victories over Heerenveen and Sparta Rotterdam in the Eredivisie. They are the division’s second goalscorers with 19 under their belts after eight rounds. Steven Berghuis is the Eredivisie’s joint topscorer at the moment with six goals under their belts after seven league appearances. Klaas-Jan Huntelaar has also played a vital part in Ajax’s performances throughout this campaign, helping the team with three goals and three assists in eight games. Ajax started to look better on the road over the past two months, winning three and drawing once in their last four away games across all competitions. In addition, they have scored a huge tally of 12 goals and conceded just two in this term. The negative thing is that the Amsterdammers are winless in their last three visits to the Stadion Feijenoord, scoring just two goals in the process. Head-to-head, Ajax are undefeated in the last four games against Feyenoord, registering two draws and two wins.

Ajax Team News

Abdelhak Nouri, Mateusz Gorski, Norbert Alblas and Mitchell Dijks are all doubts ahead of this clash.
