FC Porto Preview

Porto were drawn in one of the most balanced groups this season, with Monaco being slightly favourites after reaching the Champions League Semi-finals last season. However, Porto did well to finish second in the standings and to book their place into this round of the competition. This is Porto’s 10th time when they managed to reach the round of 16, although their record reads only three wins and six defeats. Last season, they were knocked out from the competition at this stage following a 3-0 aggregate loss against the eventual runners-up Juventus. At home, FC Porto have won four of their last six games in the Champions League, including an impressive 5-2 victory against Monaco in their most recent home fixture. The most impressive fact is that Porto haven’t lost a single official fixture since the group stage ended, winning 12 of their 14 games. Regarding their domestic campaign, Porto currently lie at the top of the table with two points more than the second-placed Benfica. They are the only team in the Primeira Liga to have not lost a single game this season.

FC Porto Team News

Danilo Pereira, Ivan Marcano, Ribeiro de Freitas Fabiano, Vincent Aboubakar and Andre Filipe Bras Andre are all doubts.

Liverpool Preview

Liverpool have also been a strong side throughout this competitive season. Their form over the past three months have seen them lose just two of their last 25 games across all competitions. Liverpool are undefeated in three competitive fixtures at the moment, including a 0-2 away victory at Southampton in the Premier League at the weekend. The Reds have struggled a little bit at the beginning of their Champions League group stage campaign, but they managed to put their campaign back on track on the last four group games. They eventually topped group E, scoring a decent tally of 23 goals in six rounds. Liverpool’s recent away record in the Champions League over the past two years have seen them win two and draw three of the last five fixtures. Regarding their domestic campaign, Liverpool find themselves third in the Premier League table, just two points adrift of the second-placed Manchester United. Mohamed Salah is the player to watch for Liverpool as the Egyptian winger has already scored 29 goals across all competitions.

Liverpool Team News

Joe Gomez and Adam Bogdan are both doubts, but Rhian Brewster is out through an ankle injury. In addition, Emre Can is suspended for this tie.
