FC Krasnodar vs Celta Vigo Match Prediction

By Marius Hrebenciuc

FC Krasnodar will be looking to overturn a one-goal deficit when they welcome Celta Vigo at the Stadion FK Krasnodar on Thursday evening for the second leg of their Europa League round of 16 tie. FC Krasnodar conceded a late goal last week to succumb to a 2-1 defeat in Spain, but they need just one goal without reply here in order to qualify further in the competition. Daniel Wass scored the opener for Celta Vigo in the first five minutes of the second half, but FC Krasnodar levelled the game six minutes later through Viktor Claesson. The game seemed to be heading for a 1-1 draw, but Claudio Beauvue netted the winner in the stoppage time for the Spaniards. Below we have our betting tips, predictions, team news and match stats all in our SBAT.

Betting Predictions and Tips

Both sides have struggled for consistency across all competitions recently, and both had problems to keep the ball out of their own net in this term. Celta looked decent going forward in their last three European away fixtures, scoring at least two goals in each of these. On the other hand, Krasnodar have only lost one of their six home fixtures in the Europa League this season but conceded at least once in four of these. It’s difficult to predict the winner, but I’m expecting another entertaining game with goals at both ends of the field.

FC Krasnodar Preview

FC Krasnodar have been terrible in the second half of their 2016/2017 competitive season, winning just one of their last five games across all competitions. They did well to eliminate Fenerbahce from the Europa League round of 32 following a 2-1 victory on aggregate, but they have failed to win a single game since then. They suffered a penalty-shootout defeat at the hands of Ural in the Russian Cup towards the end of February, and followed this up with a 2-2 home draw against Spartak Moscow in the Russian Premier League a fortnight ago. Furthermore, the Russians were beaten 2-1 on the road at Celta Vigo in the first leg of their Europa League round of 16 tie last Thursday. Krasnodar’s most recent three games across all competitions have been entertaining affairs, as all of them ended with at least three goals scored. Domestically, Krasnodar find themselves only in 8th position in the standings tied on 29 points with Rostov and Terek Grozni, just two points off the top four. Their home form has been near perfect, as Krasnodar have only lost two of their last 20 home fixtures across all competitions and are currently on a twelve-game unbeaten streak. Furthermore, Krasnodar have only lost one of their five European home games this season and scored at least on goal in each of these.

Celta Vigo Preview

Meanwhile, Celta Vigo have also struggled for fluency over the past three weeks, winning just one of their last five games across all competitions. Their sole triumph in this term was their 2-1 home victory over Krasnodar in the first leg of their round of 16 tie last week. Domestically, Os Celestes are currently on a four-game winless streak in La Liga, including a disappointing 0-1 home defeat against Villarreal at the weekend. The good news is that Celta Vigo got on the scoresheet in six of their last seven games across all competitions. Celta have endured a mixed La Liga campaign so far this season, and they sit only in 11th spot in the standings with 35 points to their name after 26 league outings. Keeping the ball out of their own net has been Celta Vigo’s main issue throughout their La Liga campaign, as they hold one of the worst defensive records in the division with 45 goals conceded in 26 rounds. Their recent away form has also been poor, as they have only won two of their last seven games across all competitions. The good news is that the Spaniards have scored twice in each of their last three European away games, a 3-2 defeat at Ajax followed by two straight 2-0 victories over Panathinaikos and Shakhtar Donetsk.
