By Dean Carr

Everton take on West Ham United at Goodison Park on 29/11/17 in a game neither side can afford to lose. Everton’s miserable run continued as they were thrashed 4-1 by Southampton, while West Ham drew 1-1 at home to Leicester City in David Moyes’ first home game. Read on for a full match preview complete with betting tips and predictions.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Neither side will be especially confident coming into this game feeling especially confident given their current respective plights in the Premier League. With that in mind, I’m expecting this to be a draw, with it hard to see where either side are going to get their next win from.

Everton Preview

The indecisiveness of the Everton board has clearly rubbed off onto the team’s on-pitch performance, as the team were thrashed yet again at the weekend, this time losing 4-1 away to Southampton. Dusan Tadic put the hosts ahead, but Gylfi Sigurdsson was able to pull the Toffees level with a stunning effort from the edge of the box. However, Everton’s true colours soon followed, as Charlie Austin scored two headers in the space of six minutes, before Steven Davis made it 4-1 with an effort from the edge of the box to leave David Unsworth’s side just two points above the relegation zone heading into Wednesday night. Everton have won just one of their last twelve games in all competitions, including a five-match losing streak and have now conceded nine goals in their last two having also been beaten 5-1 by Atalanta in the Europa League. Goodison Park was a real fortress for Ronald Koeman’s team last season, losing just twice in the Premier League and winning nine of their last ten home games last term, but have won just one of their last five at Goodison Park in all competitions. The lack of a prolific goalscorer is still costing this Everton side and they will once again be without Oumar Niasse, leaving the responsibility in attack to the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Wayne Rooney and Sandro Ramirez.

Everton Team News

Everton are facing something of a defensive crisis with Seamus Coleman, Michael Keane, Ramiro Funes Mori and Leighton Baines all missing. Mason Holgate could return, though James McCarthy, Ross Barkley and Yannick Bolasie are ruled out.

West Ham United Preview

There were signs of improvement from West Ham but no sign of three points on Friday night as the Hammers were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Leicester City. David Moyes emphasised the need for his more key players to live up to their reputations in the visit of the Foxes, but didn’t get that early on as Marc Albrighton opened the scoring just eight minutes into the game. That said, the response from the West Ham players was somewhat encouraging, with a marked improvement in performance witnessed and they were rewarded when Cheikhou Kouyate scored the equaliser just before half-time. The draw proved to be Moyes’ first point as West Ham boss, but the team remain without a win in their last six Premier League games, last picking up three points on September 30. Clashes against Everton will always have an extra spice for Moyes as he looks to get one over his former employers after losing on both of his returns to Goodison Park with Manchester United and Sunderland respectively. To do that, Moyes will have to arrest a season-long wait for a victory away from home in the Premier League for West Ham, with the team drawing three and losing four of their seven games on the road so far.

West Ham United Team News

Sam Byram (thigh), Jose Fonte (ankle) and Javier Hernandez (hamstring) are all ruled out for West Ham. James Collins (ankle) and Michail Antonio (rib) are in contention to return.
