Everton take on Leicester City at Goodison Park on 31/01/18 as the home side finally look to end their shocking run of form in the Premier League. Betting Tips and Predictions

In terms of form, Leicester have been far better than their opponents over recent weeks, winning their last three in a row. I’m expecting that to continue here, with the Foxes getting a result.

Everton Preview

Still Everton look unable to get out of their current funk, with their winless run continuing last weekend when they drew 1-1 at home to relegation-threatened West Bromwich Albion at Goodison Park. The in-form Jay Rodriguez opened the scoring after just seven minutes, doing so with a composed finish from Grzegorz Krychowiak’s pass. They were able to salvage a point, though, as Theo Walcott set up Oumar Niasse, as the Senegalese striker continues to have an impact in this Everton side despite not being particularly beloved by Sam Allardyce. Failing to win in any of their last seven in all competitions, 9th-placed Everton are still only six points above the relegation zone at this moment in time, also now slipping to six points off Leicester in 7th. Also without a victory at Goodison Park since December 18, Everton’s home support appear to be growing particularly frustrated at the team’s current form, though it is hoped new signings Walcott and Cenk Tosun can eventually spark this team to life. Despite signing an 18-month contract when he joined Everton, Allardyce appears to still be somewhat auditioning for the role on a long-term basis and this recent form won’t help his case for doing so.

Everton Team News

Maarten Stekelenburg (groin) and Leighton Baines (calf) are both doubts, while Ramiro Funes Mori (knee) and James McCarthy (broken leg) are long-term doubts.

Leicester City Preview

Despite sections of criticism for doing so, Claude Puel’s 10 changes caused no issues for his Leicester side at the weekend in the FA Cup after cruising to a convincing 5-1 win at League One Peterborough United. Debutant Fousseni Diabate marked his debut in style with a goal inside 10 minutes, before Kelechi Iheanacho bagged a first-half brace to put Leicester in the clear by the break. Andrew Hughes pulled one back for the hosts, but Diabate and Wilfred Ndidi scored in the closing five minutes to seal a whitewash at the ABAX Stadium and book Leicester’s place in the 5th round. Now winning their last three games in a row, Leicester seem to have gotten over their earlier drop in form, where they failed to win in five on the bounce in December. Hughes’ strike against Leicester in the FA Cup was also the first time the Foxes have conceded in their recent unbeaten streak, after their run of three wins and two draws in five games all came without a goal against. This recent form has seen Puel’s side rise to 7th in the table, proving to be ‘the best of the rest’ outside of the top six in the division at this moment.

Leicester City Team News

Captain Wes Morgan (hamstring) is set to miss out for the away side.
