Everton vs Hull City Match Prediction

By Dean Carr

Everton take on Hull City at Goodison Park on 18/03/17 as both sides look to follow up from victories from the weekend prior. Everton comfortably beat West Brom 3-0 at home last weekend to boost their Europa League hopes. Hull too were on the winning side after overcoming Swansea 2-1 at the KCOM Stadium. Read on for a full match preview complete with betting tips and predictions.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Everton’s home form has been excellent this season, losing just once there all season. Hull are without an away win since their first away trip of the campaign, making the choice on this one pretty self-explanatory. Home win.

Everton Preview

Everton bounced back from their 3-2 defeat to Tottenham in convincing style after seeing off West Brom 3-0 at home last weekend. Kevin Mirallas was restored to the starting eleven after Ronald Koeman packed the midfield at White Hart Lane and he repaid his manager’s faith by opening the scoring, before Morgan Schneiderlin bagged his first Everton goal on the stroke of half-time. Romelu Lukaku then scored against his former side to put the game to bed as Everton opened up a seven-point gap between themselves and the Baggies in the Premier League table. Everton have really turned Goodison Park into a fortress in recent weeks, winning their last five in a row at home and have lost just once there all season, regrettably against Merseyside rivals Liverpool. That defeat is their only home loss in almost a year, with Arsenal the last team to win there in March 2016. Ronald Koeman now seems to be getting the best out of his attacking players, particularly Ross Barkley and Romelu Lukaku who are arguably in their best spell of the season so far. Defensively, too, they are impressing with four clean sheets in their last five home games. Although Manchester United have two games in hand, Everton are now just two points behind Jose Mourinho’s side and could, momentarily, leapfrog them in the table with three points here.

Hull Preview

Hull continued their excellent home record as they claimed a significant three points over fellow relegation rivals Swansea City with a 2-1 win last time out. Oumar Niasse has been somewhat of a revelation since joining the Tigers on loan from Everton, and he came from the bench to open the scoring on 69 minutes. Niasse then doubled their lead nine minutes later as Marco Silva’s side took a huge step to restoring their survival hopes, and although Alfie Mawson pulled one back for Swansea, it was Hull who came away with the three points. It was the third time Hull have beaten Swansea this season, having done the league double over them, as well as knocking them out of the FA Cup at the third round stage. Marco Silva’s men have now won five and drawn two of their last seven home games in all competitions, which has now given themselves a real chance of escaping relegation this season. They will need to improve their away form, however, having gone thirteen games without a win since their aforementioned victory over Swansea at the Liberty Stadium, taking just two points from thirty-nine in that time.
