Everton vs Cardiff City Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Everton became the first team to prevent Chelsea from scoring at Stamford Bridge this season after a goalless draw before the international break. Marco Silva was relatively pleased to see his team come away with a point despite being dominated by the opposition in the second half. Gylfi Sigurdsson came closest to scoring for Everton. Cardiff City produced a late winner – in the 2-1 win – against Brighton to boost their survival hopes. Lewis Dunk scored from a set piece for the second consecutive game to put Brighton in front after six minutes. Cardiff were level in the 28th minute when Callum Paterson scored from a deflected cross. Dale Stephens’ red card put Brighton under pressure, but a poor refereeing decision allowed Sol Bamba to score the winner deep into the last few seconds.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Everton will undoubtedly miss the presence of Gylfi Sigurdsson, who has the ability to come up with a magic moment to break a stubborn defence. Silva has made his team tough to beat – especially at home – and Cardiff will struggle to get anything out of this match. The Bluebirds have had away goals this season but their away performances do not give a great deal of confidence to expect away goals in this game. I would opt for an Everton clean sheet.

Richarlison will be the important player for Everton in this game with Sigurdsson unavailable due to injury. The Brazilian came up with a brace in Everton’s recent match at Goodison Park and his consistency levels are the best since his time in England. I would pick Richarlison to score anytime.

Everton Preview

Everton have been relatively good in the last few weeks. They have only struggled against teams above them in the table with mediocre performances against the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea. Everton have specifically been strong at Goodison Park but the lack of Gylfi Sigurdsson could be a major issue for Marco Silva in the coming weeks. Sigurdsson has been one of Everton’s top scorer this season but he is set to miss a crucial list of fixtures due to the ankle injury sustained against Chelsea. In his absence, Richarlison has to take on a greater role going forward.

Everton Team News

Fraser Hornby (ankle), Andre Gomes (leg), Gylfi Sigurdsson (ankle), Ademola Lookman, and Jonjoe Kenny (knock) are unavailable for Everton.

Cardiff City Preview

Neil Warnock has been able to infuse his team with a lot of confidence after managing two wins in the last three matches at home. Yet, translating this form into the away matches will be a major challenge for Cardiff. Home matches can be the ideal base for Cardiff to try and get out of the relegation zone, as the Bluebirds have struggled on the road with only one point from a possible 15. Paterson has emerged as a key target player for Cardiff and he is now up to three goals for the campaign.

Cardiff City Team News

Ashley Richards (hamstring), Sean Morrison (concussion), Kenneth Zohore (calf), and Nathanial Mendez-Laing (cruciate ligament) are missing from action for Cardiff.
