Espanyol vs Valencia Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Espanyol’s come on the back of suffering a 1-0 loss against Deportivo Alaves in the game just before the international weekend. Christian Santos scored inside the first minute of the game to provide Alaves with a lead, but Espanyol had a number of chances to equalise and even win the match. This was true even after going down to 10 men following Mario Hermoso’s 39th minute red card. Valencia strengthened the case for a La Liga title race by beating Leganes 3-0 at the Mestalla. Goals from Dani Parejo, Rodrigo, and Santi Mina (penalty) led Marcelino’s team to this impressive victory.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Valencia have a strong record against Espanyol after winning four out of the last five games against this team, but there can be a case for a home victory considering that Espanyol have won three out of the last four matches at the RCDE Stadium. However, Valencia come on the back of a superb run of form and they are capable of smashing any opponents. I would go with a victory for Valencia, who have won the last three away matches. The feature of Valencia’s season has been scoring goals, as the team has netted 30 goals. No other team has been able to score more goals so far this season. Espanyol have conceded less than a goal per match at the RCDE Stadium, but a great pick would be to back Valencia to score more than 1.5 goals.

Espanyol Preview

Espanyol are far from convincing in their push for a top-10 finish, as the club has been able to pick up just two wins in the last six league matches. The club’s major solace so far has been suffering just three defeats in the first-team matches, but that changed with a shock loss against Alaves in the last match. Manager Flores was not pleased with the result, as he felt that Espanyol did more than enough to warrant a victory. Gerard Moreno is the top scorer at the club with four league goals.

Espanyol Team News

Mario Hermoso is suspended for the game after his sending off against Deportivo Alaves, while Adrian Lopez is ruled out with a meniscus injury. Victor Sanchez Mata (ankle), Pablo Piatti (knee), and Marc Navarro (ankle) are the players unavailable for Espanyol.

Valencia Preview

Valencia continue to set new standards in the La Liga 2017-18 campaign, as the highly efficient and attractive-to-watch team remain in touch with Barcelona at the top of the table. The weekend results helped Valencia stay for points behind the Catalan club. Valencia are the only team to have scored at the same pace as Barcelona, and they have only been let down by a defence that has conceded almost a goal per game. When it comes to the last six matches, Valencia have taken more points than any other team in the division. Simone Zaza leads the scoring charts at Valencia with nine league goals.

Valencia Team News

Javier Jimenez (cruciate ligament) is the player certainly ruled out of the game, while Simone Zaza (knee) and Gabriel Paulista (calf) are rated as doubtful for the game.
