Espanyol vs Deportivo La Coruna Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Espanyol came away with a goalless draw in their recent visit to the La Ceramica. The match against Villarreal did see both teams create some good opportunities in front of goal, but neither team were able to take their chances and the match finished as a disappointing draw. Deportivo La Coruna won their first game of the season, as they beat Deportivo Alaves 1-0 at the Riazor. Luisinho was able to provide the crucial goal just before half-time, and turned out to be a mental block to the away team. Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Espanyol have had the better record over Deportivo La Coruna in recent games, as they have been able to claim two wins in the last three meetings. Flores sees his team unbeaten in the last two league outings, and the team has also suffered just one loss against La Coruna in the recent six meetings. This solitary victory for La Coruna came at the Riazor. Even with Espanyol struggling in front of goal, home support may just be enough for them to get over the line. I would go with a win for Espanyol. Gerard Moreno scored in both games against Deportivo La Coruna last season. He had some good opportunities to score against Villarreal, while he has already opened his account for the campaign with the goal against Celta de Vigo. I would go with Moreno to score anytime in the game.

Espanyol win – 19/20

Gerard Moreno to score anytime – 5/4

Espanyol scored over 1.5 goals in 8 out of their last 10 games played

Deportivo La Coruna saw over 1.5 goals in 7 out of their last 10 games played

Espanyol Preview

The mediocre start to the season appears to be slowly changing for Espanyol, as the club have taken four points from the last two matches. Yet, the goalless draw with Villarreal once again exposed the club’s biggest problem this season – scoring goals. After having netted just three goals in the first five games of the season, Espanyol manager Quique Flores will be worried about his team’s ability to make it to the top half of the table. The opening few weekends of the La Liga 2017-18 season sees Espanyol struggling just above the relegation zone, and they have failed to score in three out of their last four games.

Espanyol Team News

Adrian Lopez (meniscus), Javi Lopez (hamstring), and Oscar Gaitan (cruciate ligament) are the players missing from action for Espanyol.

Deportivo La Coruna Preview

A first win of the season is a major boost for Deportivo La Coruna and Pepe Mel. The manager had seen the club concede a hefty number of goals, and this victory over Deportivo Alaves brought about the club’s first clean sheet of the season. Since coming to the club midway through the 2016-17 campaign, Pepe Mel has concentrated more on being strong defensively. Hence, the outcome against Alaves manages to hit all the right notes. Deportivo La Coruna have six goals scored and 11 conceded in the first five games of the season. Federico Cartabia remains the top scorer at the club with two league goals.

Deportivo La Coruna Team News

Ruben Martinez (finger), Pedro Mosquera (groin), Carles Gil (groin), Adrian (hamstring), and Sidnei (knee) are unavailable for selection.
