England U21 vs Poland U21 Match Prediction

By Marius Hrebenciuc

England U21 will be looking to extend their lead at the top of the Euro U21 group A table when they take on Poland at the Kolporter Arena in Kielce on Thursday night. England U21 fought back from one goal down to secure a crucial 1-2 victory over Slovakia U21 on Monday. Alfie Mawson scored the equalizer in the first six minutes of the second half, while Nathan Redmond made it 1-2 eleven minutes later. Meanwhile, Poland U21 managed to hold the reigning champions Sweden U21 to a 2-2 draw on Monday thanks to goals from Lukasz Moneta and Dawid Kownacki. Below we have our betting tips, predictions, team news and match stats all in our SBAT preview.

Betting Predictions and Tips

England U21 are obviously the in-form team in this clash and they also hold a strong head-to-head record over Poland U21. England need a victory to top the group, although a draw combined with another draw between Slovakia and Sweden will still assure them the first spot. On the flip side, only a victory could maintain Poland’s hopes alive. It’s a tricky game, but I’m fancying goals at both ends of the field.

England U21 Preview

England U21 only managed a nil-nil draw against Sweden U21 on the opening round, but they bounced back with a hard-fought 1-2 victory over Slovakia U21 on Monday. This lifts England in the first spot in the group A table with four points to their name after two rounds, just one point clear of the 2nd-placed Slovakia U21. This means that England U21 need at least one point from this clash with Poland U21 in order to book their place into the knockout stage of the competition. England have only lost twice in their last 20 games across all competitions and come into this clash on the back of a four-game unbeaten streak. The Young Lions looked very solid at the back during their recent run of form, conceding just once in their four games across all competitions. England should be confident ahead of this clash as they have won the last two meetings with Poland U21 across all competitions, scoring at least three goals in each of these. Alfie Mawson and Nathan Redmond are England’s joint topscorers at the Euros so far, having scored one goal each. James Ward-Prowse has also contributed with an assist for Nathan Redmond’s winner against Slovakia U21.

England U21 Team News

England U21 have no fresh injury concerns ahead of this game.

Poland U21 Preview

On the contrary, Poland U21 are still winless in four games across all competitions, but they looked pretty good in their 2-2 draw against Sweden U21 in their most recent fixture. Prior to this result, they were on a three-game losing streak across all competitions, including a 1-2 defeat against Slovakia U21 in the opening round. Poland U21 are rock bottom of the group A table with just one point to their name after two rounds. However, they can qualify further in the competition with a victory in this clash with England U21. Conceding has been Poland’s main issue over the past three months, as they allowed two goals in each of their last four games across all competitions. In addition, the Poles have conceded at least three goals in their most recent two competitive meetings with England U21. The good news is that Poland showed that they are capable of both scoring and creating opportunities, as they managed to find the back of the net in each of their last ten games across all competitions. The most worrying fact is that Poland have only won once in their last nine games away from home.

Poland U21 Team News

Mariusz Stepinski got a little injury last time out and he is a doubt ahead of this clash.
