England vs Germany Match Prediction

By Dean Carr

England face Germany at Wembley Stadium on 10/11/17 in a meeting of two old rivals as they commence preparations for next summer’s World Cup. Read on for a full match preview complete with betting tips and predictions.

Betting Tips and Predictions

England’s squad has been depleted by injuries, resulting in a number of new faces being called into Gareth Southgate’s squad. Alternatively, Germany have the majority of their key, experienced players fit and ready to play and I’m expecting the away side to secure the victory here.

England Preview

Gareth Southgate will have been hoping to use this double-header of fixtures to test his senior players against some top opposition, but now finds himself relying on inexperienced players in what has suddenly become an experimental squad for England. Nathaniel Clyne, Fabian Delph, Harry Winks, Jordan Henderson, Adam Lallana, Ross Barkley, Dele Alli, Raheem Sterling, Danny Welbeck and Harry Kane all miss out through injury, while Chris Smalling, Jack Wilshere, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Theo Walcott, Jermain Defoe and Daniel Sturridge have been left out. Joe Gomez, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Tammy Abraham have been promoted from the under-21s, with Jack Cork receiving his first call-up at 28. England have won their last four games in a row, but have not faced a test close to what Germany will provide in that time. This will be the second time that England have faced Germany this year, having done so in March in Dortmund, losing 1-0 despite a solid performance in which he saw Southgate switch to a back three. Given the balance of this current squad, we can expect them to play a similar system this time around, with there being a huge selection of defenders compared to midfielders and forwards.

England Team News

England could have as many as four debutants on Friday evening, with Joe Gomez, Jack Cork, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Tammy Abraham all hoping to make their international debuts at Wembley.

Germany Preview

Germany, unlike their opponents, will have a far more familiar look to their squad when they travel to Wembley Stadium on Friday night for a second meeting with the Three Lions in 2017. Big-hitters Mats Hummels, Jerome Boateng, Toni Kroos, Sami Khedira, Mesut Ozil and Julian Draxler are all present, with Manuel Neuer, Thomas Muller and Marco Reus missing through injury. Those players are likely to all be involved in Russia next summer, so long as they are fit and available, leaving the more inexperienced members of the squad to battle for the remaining slots in the 23-man squad. Joachim Low’s side are unbeaten in their last 19 internationals, with their last defeat coming in the semi-finals of Euro 2016 as they were beaten 2-0 by hosts France thanks to Antoine Griezmann. France were also the last side to beat Germany when playing away from home in a friendly, though they are currently without a win in three away games in non-competitive fixtures. This game marks almost four years since Germany’s last visit to Wembley and they won on that occasion thanks to a header from Per Mertesacker. There is no doubt Low’s men will be one of the favourites to come out as world champions in Russia next summer and this, as well as the France game next Tuesday, will be a good marker of where they currently are in their preparations.

Germany Team News

Premier League stars Antonio Rudiger, Emre Can, Ilkay Gundogan, Mesut Ozil and Leroy Sane will all hope to feature here.
