Eintracht Frankfurt vs Augsburg Match Prediction

By William Hall

After getting their first wins of the season last weekend, both Eintracht Frankfurt and Augsburg will look to make it two victories in a row this weekend in this Bundesliga clash. Frankfurt come off a 0-1 win away to Borussia Monchengladbach following the international break, while Augsburg won 3-0 at home to Cologne. Below we have our betting tips, predictions, team news and match stats all in our SBAT preview.

Last season, Eintracht took four points off of Augsburg, three of which came in their 3-1 win over them back in April. Frankfurt haven't lost any of their last five matches against them, despite the four prior to that April win being draws.

Eintracht Frankfurt Preview

Eintracht Frankfurt's worrying form from the end of last season seemingly carried over into the Bundesliga this term as they drew 0-0 with Freiburg away on opening day and then lost 0-1 at home to Wolfsburg. However, they grabbed a somewhat surprising 0-1 away win last weekend at Borussia Monchengladbach that has given everyone a reason to be optimistic. It was by and large a smash and grab, as Borussia Monchengladbach controlled possession throughout, had more corners, and also had more shots. However, Frankfurt put more shots on target and they found the back of the net on one of those to win the match. It was Kevin-Prince Boateng's 13th minute goal that ended up being enough for them to hold onto and grab all three points from the fixture.

Eintracht Frankfurt Team News

Niko Kovac continues to have the same lengthy injury list that plagued his side for much of the second part of last season. One man that is particularly missed is midfielder Marco Fabian. Along with him on the injured list are defensive midfielder Omar Mascarell and Makoto Hasebe, goalkeeper Leon Batge, right back Yanni Regasel, striker Alexander Meier, and left midfielder Danny Blum. After scoring last weekend, Kevin-Prince Boateng sustained a concussion and will miss out here.

Augsburg Preview

Augsburg's season has also been slow to heat up this term. A DFB Pokal loss to a lower division side is bad enough, but they then followed it up with a 1-0 loss away to Hamburg on the opening day of the season. They then eased into results by getting a 2-2 home draw against Borussia Monchengladbach the following weekend. That draw gave them some much-needed confidence, apparently, because this past Saturday saw them go out and demolish Cologne 3-0 at home. Cologne, as the away side, had controlled most of the possession and had the most chances, but it was Augsburg that took theirs on the day. Alfredh Finnbogason got all three goals for the home side in the match. He got things started with a goal in the 21st minute, and then doubled their advantage from the spot in 32 minutes. His hat trick had to wait a while, but it did come after 94 minutes.

Augsburg Team News

Augsburg's injury list is much shorter than Frankfurt's, but they still have some worries at the back to tend to. Right backs Georg Teigl and Raphael Framberger are out alongside center back Tim Rieder. Center midfielder Mortiz Leitner is also an injured party.
