Eintracht Braunschweig vs Wolfsburg Match Prediction

By Marius Hrebenciuc

Wolfsburg will be looking to preserve their Bundesliga status for another season when they travel to the Eintracht-Stadion to take on Eintracht Braunschweig on Monday night for the second leg of their Bundesliga promotion/relegation play-offs. Wolfsburg managed a hard-fought 1-0 home win over Braunschweig in midweek thanks to a first-half penalty goal from Mario Gomez. Below we have our betting tips, predictions, team news and match stats all in our SBAT preview.

Betting Predictions and Tips

I’m not fancying goals in this one despite the fact that Braunschweig have scored at least two goals in five of their last six home games across all competitions. Wolfsburg will definitely try to maintain their lead and I’m expecting to see a cautious approach from them. Furthermore, the most recent three games between these two sides have seen few than two goals scored.

Eintracht Braunschweig Preview

Since their relegation from the Bundesliga in 2014, Eintracht Braunschweig have been working hard towards a return into the German’s top tier. Eintracht Braunschweig were in the race for automatic promotion this season, but they were thrashed 6-0 by the 2.Bundesliga relegation-contenders Arminia Bielefeld in the penultimate round of the regular campaign. Despite the recent result, the Lions have enjoyed a decent run of form recently, winning four of their last six games across all competitions. Furthermore, Braunschweig are undefeated in their last eight home fixtures across all competitions and are currently on a six-game winning streak. In addition, Eintracht Braunschweig have scored at least two goals in five of their most recent six games across all competitions. Overall, the Lions have only lost once at home throughout their 2.Bundesliga regular season, collecting 42 points from a possible 51. Head-to-head, Eintracht Braunschweig have only lost once in their four meetings with Wolfsburg across all competitions while winning two. Domi Kumbela and Christoffer Nyman have been Eintracht’s most dangerous player during the regular season, as the pair bagged 24 goals and four assists between them.

Eintracht Braunschweig Team News

Phil Ofosu-Ayeh, Marcel Correia and Domi Kumbela are all missing through injury ahead of this clash.

Wolfsburg Preview

Wolfsburg have been unrecognisable throughout this Bundesliga season and now they are scrapping to avoid a humiliating relegation. The Wolves already changed three coaches this year, with the current one, Andries Jonker, being parachuted in from the Arsenal academy. Jonker’s record on Wolfsburg’s bench reads five defeats, two wins and one draw, including a disappointing 2-1 loss at Hamburg on the final day of the season, although they needed just one point to secure their Bundesliga status. The good news is that the Wolves made a solid start to this tie in midweek, beating Eintracht 1-0 at home thanks to a penalty goal from their talisman Mario Gomez. The veteran striker has enjoyed an excellent campaign, helping the team with 16 goals in his 34 league appearances during the regular season. Wolfsburg hold the advantage in this tie, but their recent away form hasn’t been very good as they have only won two of their last ten games across all competitions. Actually, I think that they will be looking to defend the first-leg result here and to not take too many risks.

Wolfsburg Team News

Sebastian Jung, Riechedly Bazoer, Paul Seguin, Jakub Blaszczykowski, Ricardo Rodriguez and Ismail Azzaoui are all doubts, but Jeffrey Bruma is still missing through injury.
