Dijon vs Paris Saint Germain Match Prediction

By Marius Hrebenciuc

Paris Saint Germain will look to extend their lead at the top of the Ligue 1 table when they travel to the Stade Gaston-Gerard to take on Dijon on Saturday afternoon. Dijon threw away a one-goal lead following Chang-Hoon Kwon’s late goal to only secure a 1-1 home draw against Strasbourg. On the contrary, Paris Saint Germain managed a comfortable 6-2 home victory over Bordeaux prior to the International break thanks to a brace from Neymar and four other goals from Edinson Cavani, Thomas Meunier, Julian Draxler and Kylian Mbappe. Below we have our betting tips, predictions, team news, match stats and odds all in our SBAT preview.

Betting Predictions and Tips

I’m expecting another one-sided game here as PSG have been impeccable over  the past three months, while Dijon hold the worst defensive record in the division. PSG have already scored 27 goals this season and I’m backing them to score a couple here as well, as they managed to score three in each of their two meetings with Dijon last season.

Dijon Preview

Dijon’s start to the new Ligue 1 season has been awful as they have only won once in eight league fixtures. Their sole victory of the season came against Montpellier towards the end of August, but they have only registered two defeats and two draws ever since. Dijon were very close to securing a narrow victory last time out in Ligue 1, but Strasbourg managed to get a late equalizer and both sides had to settle for a 1-1 draw. This leaves Dijon only in 17th spot in the Ligue 1 table tied on six points with the 16th-placed Amiens, just one point clear of the bottom three. Although they have lost their last season’s topscorer Lois Diony this summer, Dijon still managed to score ten goals in this early part of the campaign. Their sloppy defence has been the main reason for their struggle in this early part of the season as they hold the worst defensive record in the division with 17 goals conceded in eight rounds. At home, Dijon have only won once in their last seven games across all competitions and are currently winless in three fixtures, including a 0-1 loss against Sochaux in a friendly match during the International break. In addition, Dijon have lost their last three home meetings with Paris Saint Germain across all competitions, conceding at least two goals in two of these.

Dijon Team News

Julio Tavares and Wesley Lautoa are both missing through injury, while Cedric Yambere is out through suspension. The good news is that Mehdi Abeid is back in training following his knee injury.

Paris Saint Germain Preview

On the contrary, Paris Saint Germain had an almost 100% perfect start into this 2017/18 competitive season, having won ten and draw one of their eleven official fixtures. They drew nil-nil on the road at Montpellier three weeks ago, but bounced back with an excellent 3-0 home win over Bayern Munich in the Champions League and a thrashing 6-2 home victory against Bordeaux last time out in Ligue 1. Due to their recent good run of form, Les Parisiens find themselves at the top of both Ligue 1 and Champions League group B table. Away from home, PSG have won seven and draw one of their last eight games across all competitions, conceding just three goals in the process. Head-to-head, Paris Saint Germain have won their most recent four meetings with Dijon across all competitions, scoring at least two goals in three of these. Last season, PSG beat Dijon both home and away, netting three goals in each of these. Les Parisiens have been scoring goals for fun throughout this Ligue 1 season, as they are the league’s topscorers at the moment with 27 goals in eight rounds. Edinson Cavani is the team’s topscorer with eight goals under his belt, while Neymar has helped the team with six goals and five assists in his six league appearances.

Paris Saint Germain Team News

Marco Verratti, Thiago Motta, Thiago Silva, Julian Draxler, Javier Pastore, Neymar Jr and Layvin Kurzawa are all doubts.
