Derby County vs Swansea City Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Saturday afternoon (15:00) fixture is between two sides with hopes of promotion back to the top tier. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Derby will be looking to bounce from a midweek defeat at Stoke where they went down 2-1 despite facing ten-men for 57 minutes. Harry Wilson got them level but the Potters netted a second and County were denied a deserved point.

Swansea suffered a second consecutive loss going down 2-1 at home to West Brom in a result that was harsh on them. Ollie McBurnie had given them a lead in the tenth minute but the Baggies proved ruthless with the limited chances they created.

These two sides last met in the 2010/11 season so it is hard to read much into the head-to-head record. For what it is worth the Welsh side have lost just once of their last six meetings with the Rams.

Betting Tips and Predictions

It is hard to argue with the prices on offer here with Derby at home deserved favourites especially as they carry a greater goal threat. The Swans could frustrate and come out with a point but I prefer markets other than the full-time result.

Five of nine the Rams have played at home and six of nine on the road for the Swans have been level going into the break and this looks the best angle of attack with it also being worth a little on the second 45 minutes to be the highest scoring half.

Derby County Preview

The Rams are a mixed bag of late with two victories, two defeats and a draw that sees them just outside the play-offs on goal-difference. They now face a run that has three of their next four at home including a meeting with local rivals Forest.

At Pride Park, defeat against Villa was their first in eight and only their second in front of their own fans this season with the other coming against Leeds. The East Midlands outfit have failed to keep a clean sheet in the last five at their place.

2.68 goals per fixture has Derby right in the middle of the goals table with them being responsible for 1.47 of these. Harry Wilson has three in the last four while Jack Marriott has two in the last four.

Derby County Team News

Curtis Davies (Achilles), George Evans (hip) and Joe Ledley (back) are all doubts. Craig Forsyth, Marcus Olsson (both cruciate) and Mason Bennett (hamstring) are all long-term absentees.

Swansea City Preview

The Swans have lost three of their last four with this sole victory coming against a Bolton side everyone is beating. They have dropped to 11th though three of their next four are against teams beneath them in the table.

Away from the Liberty Stadium, they are without a victory in six and that was the aforementioned defeat of Bolton. The Welsh side have seen a total of just six goals netted at both ends of their last six games on the road.

2.11 is the average amount of goals per Swansea fixture which is the third lowest and the Welsh side are responsible for 1.11 of these. Oliver McBurnie has eight for the season while no other Swans player has more than two.

Swansea City Team News

Tom Carroll (hip), George Byers, (groin) and Jordi Govea (unknown) are doubts while Luciano Narsingh (also hamstring) is a long-term absentee.
