Derby County vs Leeds United Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Wednesday evening (19:45) fixture features two sides in the top-half of the Championship table. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Derby come into the game on the back of a weekend off with their last league fixture coming on Tuesday 13th. They lost that game 2-0 away to Sheffield Wednesday though the expected goals data suggest they can consider themselves unlucky. Leeds managed to rescue a point in their last fixture coming from two goals behind to draw 2-2 with Bristol City. Pierre-Michel Lasogga and Kemar Roofe netted for the Yorkshire outfit who deserved at least a point for their efforts. The reverse fixture came at the end of October (31st) in Yorkshire in a game that the Rams won 2-1. Pierre-Michel Lasogga had given United the lead but a Sam Winnall brace ensured County took all three points.

Betting Tips and Predictions

This is a tough game to call as both these sides are struggling for results so I would not want to be backing either. I will be looking away from the full-time result market for my recommended bets. It is just one game so far but it seemed that Leeds were more attacking in their debut under Paul Heckingbottom and despite the strong Derby defence I think United can net here so take YES in the both teams to score market and buy the time of the first goal for the visitors which is set at 79:00 minutes.

Derby County Preview

It is now just one victory in the last five for the Rams though three of these have finished all-square. Going into the midweek action they had dropped to fourth place and sat one point behind Aston Villa and three behind Cardiff. At the iPro Stadium, they are unbeaten in their last seven though three of their last four have finished all-square. Along with Cardiff the East Midlands outfit have the best home team defensive record conceding just ten times. Just one of the last six that Derby have played in the Championship has seen both teams find the back of the net. Matej Vydra has netted 17 times this season and two in the last three and four in the last seven.

Derby County Team News

George Thorne (back), Kyle McAllister (groin) and Jonathan Mitchell (finger) are doubts.

Leeds United Preview

It is now eight league games without victory for United who have picked up just three points from these fixtures. Things do not get any easier for boss Paul Heckingbottom with each of their next four to come against a top ten side. Away from Elland Road, it has been three defeats and one draw from their last four. These matches have not been high scoring producing a total of just five goals with the Yorkshire side netting only one of these. Four of the last five Leeds have played in the Championship have seen both teams score and gone over 2.5 goals. They would be as high as fifth in the table if we only counted the first 45 minutes of games

Leeds United Team News

Liam Cooper, Samuel Saiz and Gateano Beradi are all available after suspension. Conor Shaughnessy (unknown) and Tyler Roberts (shin) are doubts while Luke Ayling (ankle) is a long-term absentee.
