Derby County vs Burton Albion Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Saturday afternoon (15:00) fixture features two sides in opposite halves of the Championship table. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

After a comprehensive victory over Middlesbrough at the weekend the Rams suffered a disappointment in midweek as they lost 1-0 at home to Ipswich. A fifth minute Callum Connolly goal proved the difference between the two teams. Burton continued their poor run of form as they lost at home to Sunderland in their last league game going down 2-0. The game was evenly balanced but two goals in the last eight minutes saw the Black Cats take the points. The two meetings between these sides last season were low scoring with the game at the iPro Stadium ending goalless and the game at the Pirelli Stadium was won by the Brewers 1-0. These were the first ever Football League games in history between the Midlands duo.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Derby should win this game but you would not want to be taking such short odds so a sensible approach might be finding a way to enhance that price. The last three the Rams have won at home have been to nil while the visitors have managed just three road goals all season so this looks a good bet. In addition, you can get a bet on the home side being the only side to score and this also looks worth an interest.

Derby County Preview

It has been a mixed bag in recent times for the Rams with two wins, a draw and two defeats from their last five which has seen them into the top six. They play three of their next four at home while four of their next five opponents are in the bottom-half. At the iPro Stadium, they have lost just three times this season in the league though two of those have come in their last three. Just one of the last five at home and two of nine this season have seen both teams score. None of the last nine matches Derby have played have gone in at the interval without a goal being scored. Just 38% of the goals County have netted have come in the first-half with just 7% in the 15 minutes before the half-time break.

Derby County Team News

Bradley Johnson (hamstring) and Sam Winnall (ankle) are doubts while Jason Shackell (calf), Darren Bent (hamstring), Jamie Hanson (calf), Sam Winnall and Mason Bennett (knee) are a few weeks away from a return. Kyle McAllister (groin) is a long-term absentee.

Burton Albion Preview

It is now just five points from the last ten fixtures from the Brewers who sit in 23rd place and will do well to avoid relegation this season. Three of the next four are on the road though just one of those matches is against a top 12 side. Away from the Pirelli Stadium, they have lost just one of their last six though they have also won just one time with four of these finishing all-square. They have scored just three times on their travels this season which is a league low. In three of the last four for Burton the game has been goalless at half-time though none of these have ended scoreless. Just 31% of their goals have come in the first-half and just 8% of these in the opening 30 minutes.

Burton Albion Team News

Lloyd Dyer and John Brayford (both hamstring) are doubts. Liam Boyce (cruciate) is a long-term absentee.
