Derby County vs Brentford Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Saturday afternoon (15:00) fixture features two sides in the top-half of the Championship table. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Derby made it back-to-back draws on Tuesday night as they battled out a point away to Millwall. The game ended goalless and one point each was probably a fair reflection of the play.

Brentford will look to bounce back after a disappointing 1-0 home loss to Norwich in their last fixture. The Bees can consider themselves unlucky as they created far more big chances but could not convert them.

The reverse fixture came at the end of September at Griffin Park and the game ended in a 1-1 draw. Joe Ledley had put the Rams ahead but Ollie Watkins netted four minutes from time to rescue a point for the London outfit.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Derby could be a popular bet here given their run of form though it would be a mistake to dismiss Brentford. Add in a tendency for the Rams to draw a few and I would recommend looking elsewhere for my bets. Instead, NO in the both teams to score market looks big considering just two of the last 13 the Rams have played in have seen this happen and each of the last five for the Bees. In addition, try a home clean sheet which looks value as eight of the last ten visitors to the iPro Stadium have been held scoreless.

Derby County Preview

It is now ten league games without defeat for the Rams though three of their last four and four of their last six have ended in a draw. At the transfer deadline, they loaned in Kasey Palmer while earlier in the month they signed striker Cameron Jerome.

At the iPro Stadium, they have drawn their last two though they are unbeaten in their five previous. Four of the last five and eight of the last ten league visitors to the ground have failed to find the back of the net.

None of the last three and just two of the last 13 County have played have seen both teams find the back of the net. Just two of their last six have gone over 2.5 goals and just 12 of 29 for the season.

Derby County Team News

Bradley Johnson (back), Kyle McAllister (groin) and Jonathan Mitchell (finger) are doubts.

Brentford Preview

It is now two defeats in the last four for the Bees which has halted their promotion bid a little but they still are in 11th and just five off the play-offs.

Away from Griffin Park, it has been a mixed bag of late with two victories, two defeats and one draw from their last five. The Bees rejected a deadline day bit from Bournemouth for Chris Mepham but they do seem set to sell Lasse Vibe to China.

Not one of the last five Brentford league matches has seen both teams find the back of the net. Around two-thirds of the goals the London team have scored this season have come in the second-half.

Brentford Team News

Rico Henry (cruciate) is a long-term absentee.
