Deportivo La Coruna vs Valencia Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Deportivo La Coruna were able to pick up a point from the visit to La Ceramica after a 1-1 draw with Villarreal. The hosts were able to open the scoring in the 30th minute to Enes Unal, who has just returned from his loan spell at Levante. However, Florin Andone came up with a goal six minutes from normal time to register a point for Pepe Mel’s team. Valencia had a crucial 2-1 win over Girona to revive their campaign. Portu silenced the home supporters by scoring against his former club after eight minutes. However, Ramalho’s own goal in the 27th minute and Dani Parejo’s penalty just after half-time lead to a comeback victory for Marcelino’s men. In the midweek action, Valencia beat Las Palmas 4-0 in the second leg of the Copa del Rey game to progress into the quarter-finals.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Deportivo La Coruna’s last victory over Valencia was back in 2014. Since Valencia have struggled in the last couple of years, this fixture has not witnessed La Coruna being taken for a ride. This time around, it could be quite different with La Coruna struggling for form and Valencia showing signs of regaining their good run. The narrow win over Girona was followed up with a convincing victory over Las Palmas in the Copa del Rey. I would expect Valencia to win the game.

Clean sheets have been a major problem for Valencia with the team managing just one in the last nine games across all competitions. Deportivo La Coruna might be without Lucas Perez for this game, but Florin Andone has been in a good run of form with goals in his last two appearances. I would back both teams to score.

Deportivo La Coruna Preview

Deportivo La Coruna did extremely well to get a point against Villarreal, as it could have been a disastrous start to the 2018 action for Pepe Mel and his team. The point against the Yellow Submarines helps extend the team’s advantage over the drop zone. La Coruna have been struggling with the threat of relegation throughout the campaign, but there are signs of the team pulling away from the bottom three. The last six matches have yielded just five points, and the club’s away form has been to blame for much of this struggle. Lucas Perez and Florin Andone have now scored four goals each to take a position as the top scorers at La Coruna this season.

Deportivo La Coruna Team News

Federico Cartabia (hernia), Bicho (shoulder), Lucas Perez (back), and Federico Valverde (virus) are the names missing from action for Pepe Mel’s squad.

Valencia Preview

Valencia cannot afford to drop more points in the La Liga campaign, if the club are to finish in the Champions League qualification spots. Marcelino’s team did receive a major boost with Real Madrid dropping points during the weekend. This helped Valencia to open up a five-point advantage. Over the last six matches, Valencia and Real Madrid have managed only two wins apiece. This situation helps keep Valencia in the top three places, even after this poor form. There is a danger of Atletico Madrid pulling away in the second spot. Simone Zaza is the top scorer at Valencia with 10 goals so far.

Valencia Team News

Carlos Soler (ankle) and Javier Jimenez (cruciate ligament) will be unavailable for action due to injury.
