Deportivo La Coruna vs Celta Vigo Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Deportivo La Coruna suffered a humiliating 4-0 loss against Barcelona in the latest league match. A brace from Luis Suarez and Paulinho led to this heavy defeat for Pepe Mel’s team, although the loss could have been much higher if Lionel Messi had converted his chances. Celta de Vigo lost for a second consecutive weekend, as Villarreal were able to get a 1-0 win at the Balaidos. Pablo Fornals came up with the only goal in the 34th minute, as the home team were unable to make much of an impact.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Celta de Vigo have had the upper hand in this fixture after a completing a double over Deportivo La Coruna in the 2016-17 campaign. La Coruna’s only win in the last five competitive meetings was back in 2015. Even though Unzue has seen his team take only a point from the last three league matches, they have faced some of the toughest opposition around. La Coruna have lost three times in five league matches. I would place money on a Celta de Vigo win. Iago Aspas scored three goals in the two league matches against La Coruna last season. He missed the game against Barcelona, but he is expected to go straight into the first-team for this match. Aspas has been in sensational form over the last month or so. I would back Aspas to score anytime.

Celta de Vigo win – 17/10

Iago Aspas to score anytime – 7/4

Deportivo La Coruna Preview

Deportivo La Coruna were expected to come in with a strong performance at the Camp Nou to keep them in line with their latest results. Yet, the team has just come away from the biggest defeat of the season. The last time La Coruna lost by a four-goal margin was against Real Madrid at the Riazor back in April 2017. Despite being haunted by the threat of relegation, La Coruna had done well to limit the opposition to around two goals per game on an average. Going forward, the team has been disappointing in recent weeks with only five goals scored in six games, while conceding 12 goals – the most of any team. Lucas Perez still leads the scoring charts at La Coruna with four goals.

Deportivo La Coruna Team News

Bicho (shoulder), Federico Cartabia (hernia), Costel Pantilimon (back), Bruno Gama (leg), Saul Garcia Cabrero (gastrointestinal discomfort), and Alejandro Arribas (muscle) are the players unavailable due to injuries.

Celta Vigo Preview

Celta de Vigo have been able to achieve a strong push away from the bottom three, but there are signs of the run fading away. Celta de Vigo have taken just one point from the last three matches, although the team has only come up against the top six teams in this period. It does not get any easier in 2018 with the first three opponents being Barcelona (twice) and Real Madrid across two competitions. Juan Carlos Unzue has seen his team manage a reasonable eight goals in six games, although driven heavily by Iago Aspas’ goals. The former Liverpool forward has nine goals for the campaign.

Celta Vigo Team News

Kevin Vasquez (foot) is the only player on the sidelines for Celta de Vigo.
