Deportivo La Coruna vs Atletico Madrid Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Deportivo La Coruna picked up a first away win of the season by beating Las Palmas 3-1 at the Gran Canaria. Loic Remy provided the opening goal inside 10 minutes, but a comeback was initiated through headers from Celso Borges in either half, while a 69th minute penalty from Lucas Perez provided the three points for La Coruna. Atletico Madrid dropped points at home after only managing a 1-1 draw with Villarreal at the Wanda Metropolitano. After a goalless first half, Angel Correa provided the opening goal in the 61st minute. The lead did not last long as Villarreal came up with a late goal through Carlos Bacca in the 81st minute. In the midweek match, Atletico were involved in a draw with Qarabag in the Champions League.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

La Coruna are winless in the last six games against Atletico Madrid, who have been able to claim four wins in this period. Yet, there have been two draws between these two teams and both have come at the Riazor. The last two games between the two teams at the Riazor has finished with a 1-1 draw, which also happens to be the score for Atletico in their last three games in all competitions. I would go with a draw in this game.

Despite the mediocre record in recent weeks, Atletico continue to have a strong defence that has been able to keep the total goals under 2.5 in the last five games across all competitions. Deportivo also have a decent defence. I see value in backing this game to produce under 2.5 goals.

Draw – 11/4

Total goals under 2.5 – 3/4

Deportivo La Coruna saw over 1.5 goals in 7 out of their last 10 games played

Atletico Madrid have not conceded a goal in 60% of their last 10 games played

Deportivo La Coruna Preview

Deportivo La Coruna have a strong home record, but getting away victories was always of paramount importance if the club were to stay away from the relegation zone. The first away victory of the season is a great start, and the team will be delighted to come into the next round of matches looking to build on the home form. La Coruna have been able to get two wins in the last three matches at the Riazor. The three goals against Las Palmas helps make La Coruna’s offensive record appear more respectable with 13 goals in 10 matches. Celso Borges and Lucas Perez are the top scorers with three goals each.

Deportivo La Coruna Team News

Carles Gil (groin), Bicho (shoulder), Adrian (shoulder), and Emre Colak (shin) are the players unavailable for Deportivo La Coruna manager Pepe Mel.

Atletico Madrid Preview

Atletico Madrid have been going through a spell of draws which is starting to affect their season on all fronts. Apart from dropping several points behind table leaders Barcelona in the La Liga, the club are also struggling to even qualify for the knockout stages of the Champions League. Atletico are one of the three teams yet to lose in this La Liga 2017-18 campaign, but it may no longer be deemed good enough with the team managing just one win in the last four. Angel Correa has emerged as the top scorer at the club with four league goals.

Atletico Madrid Team News

Yannick Carrasco (knee) and Axel Werner are the players unavailable for Atletico Madrid.
