Czech Republic vs Germany Match Prediction

By Marius Hrebenciuc

Germany will be looking to extend their lead at the top of the World Cup qualifying group C table when they travel to the Eden Arena in Prague to take on the Czech Republic on Friday night. The Czech Republic only managed a 1-1 draw on the road at Norway last time out, despite the fact that Theodor Gebre Selassie gave them the lead just after the half-hour mark. Meanwhile, Germany picked up a comfortable 7-0 win over San Marino in their most recent qualifier thanks to a hat-trick from Sandro Wagner and four other goals from Julian Draxler, Amin Younes, Shkodran Mustafi and Julian Brandt. Below we have our betting tips, predictions, team news and match stats all in our SBAT preview.

Betting Predictions and Tips

Germany are hot favourites to win, but the Czech Republic looked very solid on home soil over the past year. Germany still have more quality within their squad than the Czech and should be able to win here, but I’m expecting a high-scoring affair as the last five meetings between these two sides have seen at least three goals scored.

Czech Republic Preview

The Czech Republic have endured a mixed run of form over the past year, winning four, drawing four and losing two of their last ten games across all competitions. The Czechs looked solid throughout this World Cup qualifying campaign, having only lost at the hands of Germany in the reverse fixture. They enter the fray on the back of a four-game unbeaten run in qualifiers, winning two and drawing two in the process. The Czech Republic currently sit third in the group C table with just nine points under their belts after six rounds, already four points off the 2nd-placed Northern Ireland. They were tipped to finish second behind Germany and they still have enough chances if they managed to pick up at least one point on Friday. The Czechs can count on their recent home form ahead of this clash as they are undefeated in the last six fixtures across all competitions, conceding just two goals in the process. Furthermore, they did well against Germany over the past few years, winning two of the last four meetings with the Germans. The Czech Republic have plenty of attacking options within their squad as four different players have scored a brace throughout this qualifying campaign.

Czech Republic Team News

Jan Kliment is missing through suspension ahead of this tie.

Germany Preview

Germany managed to put their disappointing 0-2 defeat against France in the Euro 2016 Semi-finals behind them as they are currently unbeaten in 15 games across all competitions. The Germans have completely dominated this World Cup qualifying Group C as they have collected maximum points from their opening six group fixtures. They looked incredibly strong at both ends of the field, having scored 27 goals and conceding just once in six games. Thomas Muller has been Germany’s most dangerous player in front of goal throughout this World Cup qualifying campaign, helping the team with five goals in his five league appearances. Furthermore, Germany have recently won the 2017 Confederations Cup following a narrow 0-1 victory over Chile in the Final. They have won four of their five games throughout the Confederations Cup, despite coach Joachim Loew have used a completely used a different squad for the tournament, with Julian Draxler being the most capped player. Germany’s away form over the past year has seen them win six and draw two of their last eight away games across all competitions. Furthermore, the Germans have kept a clean sheet in five of their last eight away games.

Germany Team News

Loew has invested a lot of faith in some of the younger players in the squad, as he brought in 17 players that were a part of this summer’s Confederations Cup title for Germany. Manuel Neuer has been omitted from the squad as he has just returned from his three month and a half injury.
