Crystal Palace vs Sunderland Match Prediction

By William Hall

Crystal Palace welcome Sunderland to Selhurst Park on the 04/02/2017 at 15:00 in the Premier League. Crystal Palace are really struggling this season and currently find themselves in the relegation zone with everything to play for going into this critical part of the season. However, they were able to get a good result during the week, beating Bournemouth 2-0 away home. It is the same story for Sunderland who are also in the bottom three, three points below Crystal Palace. This shows what a big game it is for both of these sides who are fighting right at the foot of the table. Our SBAT preview will bring you a form guide, team news and betting preview.

Crystal Palace Preview

Crystal Palace will take some confidence from their last game, but at home, they have been very poor. They have lost all of their last four games on home turf which would have hit them hard, as well as the fans that go to watch. However, looking back at those games, they have lost by just one goal every time. This shows us that they lack that edge to see off teams and also that they're struggling to keep sides out of their goal at the other end. Palace have made some top class signings during the January transfer window which has strengthened their squad massively and could prove vital going into this stage of the season. The amount of goals conceded this season has been a major problem for Crystal Palace up to now, and they will be hoping the signing of Mamadou Sakho will secure their back four up and stop as many goals flying in. Patrick van Aanholt is another of Palaces’ signings during January and has already proven that he will make things happen after being involved in their first goal. Both of these players will prove huge for Crystal Palace going into this vital stage of the season.

Sunderland Preview

Sunderland will feel they need to get a result in this game if they are to give themselves a chance of staying in the Premier League come to the end of the season. They are three points behind their opponents in this next match which shows what a big game it is for Sunderland, as well as Crystal Palace. Sunderland haven't won a game in their last eight outings, losing five of those which is a big hit to players confidence. However, they managed to get a good 0-0 draw at home to Tottenham during the week which would have boosted them massively coming into this match. If they can show the same level of performance that they did in their last game, they have every chance of getting something from this match. With Sunderland having Jermain Defoe in the game, they always have a chance of getting something from the match. For me, Defoe is still up there with one of the best attackers and finishes in the league making him a huge threat in any game he plays. In a game like this, you would expect him to have a good chance of getting on the scoresheet.

Both teams to score 4/5

Betting Predictions and Tips

I can see this being a very tight encounter between two sides at the foot of the table. Both sides come into the match off the back of good results, but you would think Crystal Palace would be the favourites in the game being the home team. However, you can never write off Sunderland as they always seem to get out of the bottom three before facing the drop and with Jermain Defoe in the team, they have got goals in the squad.
