Crystal Palace vs Manchester City Match Prediction

By Marius Hrebenciuc

Manchester City will look to extend their unbeaten start to this Premier League campaign when they travel to the Selhurst Park to take on Crystal Palace on Sunday at lunchtime. Crystal Palace lost 2-3 at home at the hands of Arsenal on Thursday night, with their goals being scored by Andros Townsend and James Tomkins. On the other hand, Manchester City only managed a narrow 0-1 victory on the road at Newcastle on Wednesday, with Raheem Sterling scoring the winner just after the half-hour mark. Below we have our betting tips, predictions, team news, match stats and odds all in our SBAT preview. Feel free to visit our Bet of the day page to check our best daily tips.

Betting Predictions and Tips

Manchester City should be able to grab all three points here and to continue their excellent Premier League campaign. However, we also fancy Crystal Palace to get on the scoresheet as they netted at least two goals in each of their last seven home league fixtures. In addition, City have conceded at least one goal in four of their last six away games across all competitions.

Crystal Palace Preview

Crystal Palace had a nightmare start to the season, but they managed to put their Premier League campaign back on track over the past month. Palace were on an eight-game unbeaten streak in the Premier League prior to their narrow 2-3 home loss against Arsenal on Thursday. They still find themselves in a precarious situation despite their recent run of form, as they are just one point clear of the bottom three. Palace’s biggest problem throughout this campaign has been their leaky defence as they have conceded 32 goals in 20 league outings. The Eagles have also struggled going forward this season, having scored just 18 goals in 20 rounds. At home, they were on a seven-game undefeated streak across all competitions prior to their loss at the hands of Arsenal. The only good thing is that Crystal Palace have scored at least two goals in each of their last seven home games in the Premier League. The bad news is that Palace have suffered defeats in each of their last three home meetings with Manchester City across all competitions.

Crystal Palace Team News

Mamadou Sakho, Joel Ward and Damien Delaney are all missing through injury, while Connor Wickham is a doubt.

Manchester City Preview

On the other hand, Manchester City are yet to lose a single game throughout this Premier League campaign, drawing once and winning 19 of their 20 league outings. This leaves them at the top of the Premier League table with 58 points after 20 rounds, already 15 points clear of the second-placed and city rivals Manchester United. Pep Guardiola’s men looked incredibly solid at both ends of the field throughout the season, scoring 61 goals and conceding just 12 in 20 league fixtures. Raheem Sterling is the team’s top scorer with 13 goals under his belt, while Sergio Aguero is the second goalscorer with 12 goals. In addition, Kevin De Bruyne and Leroy Sane have bagged 12 goals and 17 assists between them. The Citizens’ sole away defeat in their 14 trips this season came at the hands of Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League at the beginning of December. However, City should feel confident ahead of this tie as they have won four of their last five visits to the Selhurst Park, scoring at least two goals in three of these.

Manchester City Team News

Vincent Kompany is a doubt, but Phil Foden and Benjamin Mendy are both out through injury. The good news is that John Stones is back in training following his hamstring injury.
