Crystal Palace vs Chelsea Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Crystal Palace failed to get a third consecutive league win after only managing a goalless draw with Cardiff City at home. Manager Roy Hodgson was disappointed to see his team get more than 30 shots at goal and still fail to find the back of the net. Chelsea came up with an impressive performance to beat Watford 2-1 at Vicarage Road. The blues took the lead just before half-time when Mateo Kovacic played in Eden Hazard. The lead lasted only a few minutes since Roberto Pereyra equalised from the hosts with a fine shot from the edge of the box. Eden Hazard’s penalty just after half-time put Chelsea back in the lead.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Chelsea travel to Selhurst Park expecting an inhospitable atmosphere, which is often the case when these two London rivals take on each other. In the past, the intimidating atmosphere at Selhurst Park has been difficult for Chelsea to handle in the past, and the blues have lost twice in the last five visits to this ground. Yet, Chelsea will have a deep sense of need to win this match after having dropped large number of points behind the title challengers. I would pick a win for Chelsea.

The surprise shown by Crystal Palace in the last few games has been their attacking quality. The team has been creating a lot of chances in recent matches and Chelsea’s fragile defence will further let them continue this run. I would back both teams to score.

Crystal Palace Preview

Crystal Palace have been able to hit a sweet run of form over the last few weeks. Even though the massive win over Manchester City will be hard to match, Palace will be able to take a lot of confidence from that result. The club will be at home in three out of the next four games across all competitions, and it provides a Hodgson with an opportunity to improve the club’s pathetic form at Selhurst Park. Despite creating a load of opportunities against Cardiff, Hodgson watched his team once again struggle to find the back of the net. Wilfried Zaha and Andros Townsend have been in decent form over the last few weeks.

Crystal Palace Team News

Christian Benteke (knee), Wayne Hennessey (back), and Martin Kelly (groin) are missing from action for Palace.

Chelsea Preview

Maurizio Sarri watched his team come up with a decent away performance against Watford to register the second consecutive away victory. This follows a run of three winless matches on the road. Chelsea have been far from perfect in recent weeks, and they have been relying on moments in order to get them through. Most of those moments this season have been provided by Eden Hazard, who is now up to 10 goals for the campaign. Yet, this Chelsea camp is far from perfect with several rumours surrounding the Belgian international and forwards like Alvaro Morata.

Chelsea Team News

Callum Hudson-Odoi (hamstring), Pedro (hamstring), Andreas Christensen (hamstring), and Marco van Ginkel (cruciate ligament) are unavailable for Chelsea.
