Crystal Palace vs Cardiff City Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Crystal Palace came up with one of the biggest shocks in Premier League history after a 3-2 win over Manchester City at Etihad Stadium. Ilkay Gundogan’s header in the 27th minute put City in a familiar position but Jeffrey Schlupp and Andros Townsend changed to the game on its head in the space of just two minutes going into the break. Palace’s position strengthened even further when Luka Milivojevic converted from the spot in the 51st minute. Even though there were final nervous moments due to Kevin De Bruyne’s goal, Palace held on for a famous win. Cardiff City were thrashed 5-1 by Manchester United, who had Ole Gunnar Solskjaer take charge of his first game. Goals from Marcus Rashford, Ander Herrera, Anthony Martial, and Jesse Lingard (2) were able to ensure a huge win for United, who saw Cardiff only grab a consolation through a penalty from Víctor Camarasa.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Cardiff City were found out against Manchester United as even a remarkable home run was unable to save the Welsh team. After back-to-back league wins, Palace are in a great position coming into the game. Palace are aiming for three consecutive wins for the first time since May, but they have picked up strong results against Cardiff at Selhurst Park in the past. More than the recent form shown by the Eagles, the win over Manchester City will act as a huge morale boost. I would go with a win for Palace.

The Palace team were able to score more than 2.5 goals for the first time this season, but they have generally been a team low on goals. Cardiff have the same issue when it comes to away matches even if the team recently came up with a brace against Watford. I would opt for a game with under 2.5 goals.

Crystal Palace Preview

Roy Hodgson was disappointed to see his team fail to make a major impact going forward only a few weeks ago, but Palace have now come up with six goals in the last three matches. They have also been able to claim back-to-back wins to make a strong case for pushing away from the bottom three. Palace still need more points in order to alleviate relegation fears, but the club are moving in the right direction with players like Wan-Bissaka churning out impressive performances.

Crystal Palace Team News

Christian Benteke (knee), Wayne Hennessey (back), and Martin Kelly (groin) are the players unavailable for Hodgson.

Cardiff City Preview

Cardiff City have been able to so far keep pace with teams vying for safety by picking up points at the Cardiff City Stadium but the thrashing at the hands of Manchester United, who have had a mountain of problems of their own this season, highlights the gross inadequacies within the team. The Welsh team have a tricky run of games coming up with the likes of Leicester, Huddersfield, and Palace as their opponents.

Cardiff City Team News

Daniel Ward (knee), Joseph Bennett (hip), and Ashley Richards (hamstring) are missing from action for Cardiff.
