Chicago Fire vs DC United Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Chicago Fire were able to manage a 1-1 draw with New York Red Bulls in the latest league outing. The worse was feared for Chicago Fire after Bradley Wright Phillips opened the scoring just seven minutes into the game. However, Nemanja Nikolic was able to end his long drought for the team by coming up with the equaliser in the second half. DC United’s three-game winning run came to a halt following a 2-1 loss against Orlando City. Goals from Cyle Larin and Giles Barnes quickly put Orlando 2-0 up in the game, but a late goal from Kofi Opare threatened to cause an unlikely equaliser. Servando Carrasco and Sebastien Hines were sent off for Orlando. Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

The last six league matches may see Chicago Fire with just one win, but the club’s performances have significantly improved in the last two games. A home match once again gives the team great opportunity to get three points, and DC United have just suffered a loss to take the momentum away from a three-game winning run. DC United have just one away win this season. I would go with a victory for Chicago Fire in this game. Only one of the last five matches for Chicago Fire at the Toyota Park has been with under 2.5 goals. The home matches for Chicago Fire have been high-scoring – just like most of the away games for DC United. Only two of the last six away matches for DC United has been with under 2.5 goals. I see great value in backing over 2.5 goals in this game.

Chicago Fire Preview

The last two matches have seen a much better Chicago Fire, as the club are finally keen on making the way back up the table. Despite having gone through a disastrous run of form, Chicago Fire do not find themselves significantly off the pace going into the last seven matches of the season. The club are five points behind second placed New York City and managing to overtake Patrick Vieira’s team is a distinct possibility. One of the stumbling blocks may come in the form of away games, as Chicago Fire are on the road for two of the next three matches. Nemanja Nikolic, who has now 17 for the season, was able to end his goal drought with the goal against Red Bulls.

Chicago Fire Team News

Jorge Bava (elbow), Christian Dean (foot), Patrick Doody (unknown), Joao Diogo Meira (calf), John Goossens (ankle), Daniel Johnson (ligament), and Bastian Schweinsteiger (thigh) are unavailable for selection due to injuries.

DC United Preview

DC United’s small run of three consecutive wins appeared to help the club get away from the bottom of the table, but the recent loss against Orlando City means that DC United are still four points behind Philadelphia Union. United may have to spend at least two more weeks at the bottom before thinking about replacing Philadelphia. However, the upcoming run of matches does not get easier for the team, as they are on the road for four out of the next five games.

DC United Team News

Chris Rolfe (concussion), Bruno Miranda (thigh), Taylor Kemp (hip), Robert Vincent (meniscus), and Patrick Nyarko (eye) are the players unavailable for DC United.
