Chicago Fire vs Colorado Rapids Match Prediction

By Gary Gillles

Chicago Fire ended a four-game winless run in the best possible manner, as they beat 2016 MLS Cup winners Seattle Sounders 4-1 at the Toyota Park. Nemanja Nikolic scored from the spot in the 25th minute, but Clint Dempsey equalised a few minutes later. In the second half, though, Chicago overpowered their opponents with goals from David Accam, Luis Solignac, and Nikolic. Colorado Rapids ended a five-game losing streak with a 3-0 win over San Jose Earthquakes. Shkelzen Gashi scored in either half, while Dominique Badji was a constant menace for San Jose Earthquakes. Badji scored in the 35th minute.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Chicago Fire are quite impressive at home, as they have managed five wins in the six games. In contrast, Colorado Rapids have suffered four consecutive losses on their travels. They have also been able to score just once in these four matches. Even though Colorado comes on the back of a positive performance against San Jose Earthquakes, their away games need to be approached with caution when it comes to betting. I would back Chicago Fire for a win, as some excellent prices are available even with their top home form. Nemanja Nikolic has scored the opening goal in three out of the five matches for Chicago Fire. The Hungarian has failed to score only once in the last six games. I would back Nikolic to score the first goal.

Chicago Fire win – 4/5

Nemanja Nikolic to score 1st goal – 7/2

Chicago Fire Preview

Chicago Fire once again demonstrated their strength at home after managing a brilliant win over Seattle Sounders. The club are without an away win in four attempts, but they have dropped just two points at home this season. Chicago Fire’s disappointing away form places a lot of emphasis on the team to get results at the Toyota Park, where they have conceded just three goals in five games. The form of David Accam and Nemanja Nikolic are major positives for the club. The latter is now the joint 2017 MLS top scorer with eight league goals.

Chicago Fire Team News

John Goossens (ankle), Patrick Doody (ill), and Juninho (ankle) are the injury concerns for Chicago Fire.

Colorado Rapids Preview

Colorado Rapids were able to end a disastrous run of five straight defeats with the home win. The club’s two wins have come at the Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, as Colorado Rapids have struggled quite badly on the road. They have lost all of their four away matches, while scoring just one goal. The away performances have not really been the club’s forte even going back to last season, but the lack of consistent results at home places a lot of emphasis on away form too. Dominique Badji has been the club’s best performer with two goals and two assists in nine appearances.

Colorado Rapids Team News

Colorado Rapids are without Axel Sjoberg (muscle) and Bismark Adjei-Boateng (vertebral fracture) due to injury.
