Chelsea Preview

There’s plenty left to play for in Chelsea’s EFL Cup semi-final tie with Arsenal, after both sides played out a 0-0 draw in their first leg clash at Stamford Bridge. Though Antonio Conte’s side generally dominated the game, they could find no way through a stubborn Arsenal defence here, and can at least be content with the fact that the Gunners will take no away goals back to the Emirates with them. It says much of Chelsea’s performances in recent weeks that Conte’s public spat with Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has been a greater talking point than Chelsea’s recent form, having now drawn three games on the bounce in all competitions. That said, the London outfit have won seven Premier League games at Stamford Bridge on the bounce, keeping five clean sheets in the process and won 5-0 against Stoke in their previous outing. Added to that, Chelsea have won each of their last four games against the Foxes, including a 2-1 success at the King Power Stadium last time around. Currently just a point behind Manchester United in second, a win here would see the Blues move up to second until Monday at least, with Jose Mourinho’s men not featuring until Monday night when they play Stoke at Old Trafford.

Chelsea Team News

Ross Barkley (hamstring) will be assessed after completing a week of training.

Leicester City Preview

Hindsight may see Claude Puel feel as if he should’ve played a stronger side in the FA Cup last weekend, after being held to a 0-0 draw away to Fleetwood Town, with the League One side forcing a replay. Eight changes were made from the 3-0 home win over Huddersfield Town last time out, and the Foxes truly did play like a team who didn’t know each other’s names, having failed to manage a shot on target in 90 minutes. They will hope the first-team regulars can produce a performance of significantly better quality here, and will need to do so if they are to have any hope of getting a result of sorts. A mix of a loss of form and difficult opponents has seen Leicester suffer a tough run of results of late, having gone on a four-game winless run before the defeat of Huddersfield last time out in the league. Football romanticists were robbed of the opportunity of seeing Jamie Vardy face his former side in the FA Cup last time out, though the Foxes should have their top scorer back this weekend as he looks to add to his nine Premier League goals for the campaign so far. Leicester have had a mixed bag of results on the road so far this term, having followed up a run of seven games without a win away from home with back-to-back defeats in their last two on the road.

Leicester City Team News

Danny Simpson and Wes Morgan are both set to miss out, but Jamie Vardy (groin) should be fit to feature.
