Chelsea vs Huddersfield Town Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Chelsea picked up a decisive 1-0 win over Liverpool to take the top four race into the last two games of the campaign. Olivier Giroud managed to sneak a header past Loris Karius in the 32nd minute to break the deadlock, while Liverpool were largely unimpressive in the match. Huddersfield Town secured a huge point in the fight against relegation, as David Wagner’s men picked up a goalless draw against Manchester City at Etihad Stadium. Despite being the underdogs, Huddersfield actually came close on a couple of occasions through the likes of Alex Prichard.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Chelsea will be certainly up for this match after watching none of the top four teams win during the weekend. As a result, Chelsea will be able to go level on points with Liverpool if they pick up a win over Huddersfield. After having overcome opponents in the top and bottom half of the table with amazing grit and determination, Chelsea are unlikely to give up at this stage. However, Huddersfield are not a team to lose by a significant margin, as David Wagner will be setting his team in a very defensive fashion. I see great value in backing under 2.5 goals.

Olivier Giroud is expected to start the game even if Alvaro Morata is fit. The Frenchman’s physical presence will be key in a game where space is likely to be at a premium due to Huddersfield putting 11 players behind the ball. I would choose Olivier Giroud to score anytime.

Chelsea Preview

Chelsea might just change the order in the top four places after throwing the cat among pigeons with their recent run of form. The blues have picked up five consecutive wins in all competitions. Apart from sealing a place in the final of the FA Cup, Antonio Conte has also been able to get his team on a strong surge of form once again. Chelsea were not only clinically going forward in the game against Liverpool, but they showed a lot of discipline that may act as a template for the upcoming FA Cup final. The presence of Olivier Giroud provides a new dimension to Chelsea’s attack and he has been able to rise up to the position of chances first-choice striker ahead of Alvaro Morata.

Chelsea Team News

Alvaro Morata (knock) is doubtful for the game, while Danny Drinkwater (groin) is also set to miss out.

Huddersfield Town Preview

Huddersfield Town may lack the goals required to make a decisive move away from the relegation zone, but the club have been showing incredible great to pick up points in the unlikely of circumstances. The point against Manchester City can have a huge implication on their survival status, as even the last two games for Huddersfield are extremely tough. The team concludes the campaign with a home game against Arsenal, but David Wagner will be keen to finish their fight against relegation before this match. However, the lack of a strong goalscorer is a problem for Huddersfield.

Huddersfield Town Team News

Daniel Williams (broken ankle), Elias Kachunga (ankle), and Sean Scannell (shoulder) are unavailable for Huddersfield Town.
