Chelsea vs Crystal Palace Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Chelsea produced a magnificent performance to beat Burnley 4-0 at Turf Moor. Alvaro Morata’s opening goal broke Burnley’s tactics as early as in the 22nd minute. A flurry of second-half goals from Ross Barkley, William, and Ruben Loftus-Cheek helped Chelsea to a big win. Chelsea picked up a 3-2 victory over Derby County to reach the quarter-finals of the League Cup. Crystal Palace winless run has hit five games after a 1-0 defeat against Middlesbrough in the League Cup. This was preceded by a 2-2 draw with Arsenal at Selhurst Park. Luka Milivojevic’s opener just before half-time gave Palace their first league goals at home. However, Granit Xhaka’s free kick and a Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang finish put Arsenal in front before Milivojevic levelled the scores with yet another penalty.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

The Blues have been playing extremely well in recent matches and they have created plenty of chances. It is quite incredible that both of Crystal Palace’s victories this season have come on the road. Palace may have picked two wins in the last three visits to Stamford Bridge, but there is a huge gap in class between the two teams at this moment. Sarri’s men have been playing extremely well and I would back over 3.5 goals in the game along with a Chelsea win.

Palace have not conceded a goal in the first half of any away match this season. They are likely to make it difficult by sitting deep in the first half of this match, while Chelsea’s possession may ultimately tire them down in the second half. I would opt for Chelsea to score more in the second half.

Chelsea Preview

Maurizio Sarri continues to get the best out of his Chelsea team by playing a beautiful style of football. Crucially, the last few weeks have produced new options for the Italian manager, as the likes of Ross Barkley and Ruben Loftus-Cheek play a more influential role. At the start of the campaign, Eden Hazard was seen as the sole breadwinner for Chelsea. After having picked up a couple of victories even without the Belgian international, Chelsea may start to feel more confident going forward. Barkley has been able to score twice in his last two games.

Chelsea Team News

Sarri is likely to be without Eden Hazard (back). Olivier Giroud (leg) and Marco van Ginkel (cruciate ligament) are unavailable for the game.

Crystal Palace Preview

Crystal Palace are once again back on a winless run that has the potential to pull them back into the drop zone. Victories over the likes of Huddersfield helped Crystal Palace climb out of the bottom three, but they have been unable to win a league match in more than a month. Even manager Roy Hodgson said that it was quite disheartening to be on the losing side every week. However, the manner of the comeback against Arsenal may provide Palace with confidence – especially when it comes to home matches. Wilfried Zaha remains as the key offensive player for Palace with three league goals.

Crystal Palace Team News

Connor Wickham (thigh), Joel Ward (muscle), and Christian Benteke (knee) are unavailable for Palace.
