Chelsea vs Brighton & Hove Albion Match Prediction

By Marius Hrebenciuc

Chelsea will look to continue their quest for a top two finish in the Premier League table when they host Brighton at the Stamford Bridge on Tuesday afternoon. Chelsea only managed a goalless draw on the road at in-form Everton at the weekend, despite the fact they had an overwhelming 68% ball possession and 25 goal scoring attempts. Meanwhile, Brighton won 1-0 at home against Watford, with Pascal Gross scoring the winner in the 64th minute. Below we have our betting tips, predictions, team news, match stats and odds all in our SBAT preview. Feel free to visit our Bet of the day page to check our best daily tips.

Betting Predictions and Tips

Chelsea should be able to secure a comfortable victory in this one as they are undefeated in nine home games across all competitions at the moment, conceding just nine in the process. We fancy them to win to Nil here as Chelsea looked very solid at the back at home recently, while Brighton have failed to score in five of their last seven competitive trips.

Chelsea Preview

Chelsea will be looking to collect as many points they can before their two-legged tie against Barcelona in the Champions League round of 16 in February. Chelsea currently sit third in the league table, but their quest to defend their Premier League title seems impossible at the moment as they have more than ten points behind the current leaders Manchester City. The Blues can count on their recent home form as they currently unbeaten in nine competitive fixtures, winning seven in the process. Furthermore, Chelsea have only conceded three goals in their most recent six home league games. The most interesting fact is that the Blues have lost 3-1 to Brighton in their sole meeting in a friendly game back in 2012. Despite having plenty of quality players within their ranks, Chelsea’s most dangerous player in front of goal so far this season has been the summer signing Alvaro Morata. The Spaniard has been crucial in Chelsea’s performances throughout the season as he is the team’s top scorer with nine goals and four assists under his belt.

Chelsea Team News

David Luiz is missing through injury, but Baba Rahman is back in training.

Brighton & Hove Albion Preview

The newcomers Brighton had an impressive start to this Premier League season, but their recent run of form hasn’t been great. Brighton still are outside the drop zone for the moment, but they will definitely be involved in a relegation battle this year. Brighton haven’t conceded too many goals this season, which is a positive fact, but they really struggled going forward. They hold one of the worst attacking record in the division with just 14 goals scored in 18 league outings. Away from home, the Seagulls have only won twice in their ten competitive trips this season. Furthermore, Albion are currently on a three-game losing streak in the Premier League away from home, scoring none in the process. In addition, Brighton have conceded at least two goals in five of their ten away games across all competitions this season. Glenn Murray is the team’s top scorer with five goals under his belt, while Pascal Gross has helped the team with three goals and five assists in his 18 league appearances.

Brighton & Hove Albion Team News

Jonah Ayunga is still out through an ankle injury, while Steve Sidwell is a doubt.
