Betting Tips and Predictions

There was little resistance against Chelsea during their win in the FA Cup at the weekend, and although Bournemouth may put up more of a fight on Wednesday evening, I’m expecting Chelsea to come away with the victory.

Chelsea Preview

Chelsea found a comfortable route into the fifth round of the FA Cup on Sunday afternoon after seeing off Newcastle United 3-0 at Stamford Bridge. Michy Batshuayi took his chance of a rare starting in the first XI by putting the Blues two goals ahead before half-time with two goals in 15 minutes. Last season’s FA Cup runners-up secured the victory in the second-half when Marcos Alonso’s free-kick beat Karl Darlow, as Chelsea look to return to Wembley for the second successive campaign. Having lost in the EFL Cup semi-final against Arsenal last week, it seemed as if the Blues felt as if they had a point to prove against Newcastle, Batshuayi in particular who was snubbed from the starting XI despite there being no recognised striker in the Chelsea side. Despite drawing 0-0 with Leicester in their last home league game, Chelsea have generally performed well at Stamford Bridge so far this term. Before the draw at Leicester, Antonio Conte’s men had won seven league games in a row at the Bridge, losing just twice at home all season, coming against Burnley and Manchester City. With Manchester United facing Tottenham on Wednesday, Chelsea will see this as an opportunity to close the gap between themselves and 2nd in the table.

Chelsea Team News

Thibaut Courtois, David Luiz (both ankle), William (hamstring) and Alvaro Morata (back) are all doubts for the home side.

AFC Bournemouth Preview

Bournemouth will ultimately have been left feeling frustrated at their inability to close the game out at West Ham after drawing 1-1 at the London Stadium the weekend before last. A largely uninspiring game beforehand came to life in the 71st minute when Ryan Fraser put the Cherries in front and on course for an important three points. It wasn’t to be for Eddie Howe’s side, though, who fell victim to the proverbial ‘most vulnerable when you’ve just scored’ when Javier Hernandez replied just two minutes after Fraser’s strike to leave both sides to settle for a point. Still 12th in the table following that result, Bournemouth missed out on the chance to move into the top half during their trip to east London, though even that would not guarantee their safety. Still only three points clear of the relegation zone, the Cherries remain part of a cluster of clubs finding themselves still far from safe at the bottom of the table. All told, their away form has been far from poor in the Premier League in recent times, losing only twice in their previous seven on the road, ensuring they are picking up a consistent flow of points in doing so. Bournemouth have won just once at Stamford Bridge in their history, doing so back in December 2015 with a 1-0 victory over the Premier League champions.

AFC Bournemouth Team News

Tyrone Mings (back) and Jermain Defoe (ankle) are both ruled out through injury.
