Both of these teams are used to winning games in their respective domestic leagues, albeit the Parisians play at a higher standard week-in, week-out. I’m expecting PSG to get the win here and get a few goals in doing so.

Celtic Preview

Celtic once again made routine work of Scottish Premiership opposition last time out after beating mid-table Hamilton Academical 4-1 away from home. Stuart Armstrong put Brendan Rodgers’ men ahead in the 17th minute and a Scott Sinclair brace ensured they would go into the break 3-0 up and put the game to bed as a contest. That allowed Rodgers to rest key players in Armstrong, Patrick Roberts and Josip Simunovic, as Odsonne Edouard scored his first goal in a Celtic shirt in the second half. Alexander Gogic netted a late consolation, as the Celtic now turn their attention to claiming another famous scalp at Celtic Park. Champions League nights at Parkhead are renowned for their atmosphere and that should be no different here, as they look to replicate nights such as against Barcelona in 2012. Celtic are yet to concede a goal at home in the Champions League so far this season after shutting out Linfield, Rosenborg and Astana, although this will be a completely preposition for the Scottish champions.

Celtic Team News

Defenders Erik Sviatchenko and Dedryck Boyata are both missing through knee injuries. Moussa Dembele (hamstring) will be pushing to feature, as will Leigh Griffiths (calf), but Kouassi Eboue (ankle) is a doubt.

Paris Saint Germain Preview

PSG’s dominance of the French league was fully-expected at the start of the season and they once again showed their class at Metz, breezing to a 5-1 win. Edinson Cavani gave the away side the lead on 31 minutes, although they were level going into the break following Emmanuel Riviere's equaliser. From then, though, it was plain-sailing for the Parisians, as new signings Kylian Mbappe and Neymar put them two goals clear, before Cavani’s second and an effort from substitute Lucas Moura wrapped up another convincing win for Unai Emery’s men. PSG are convincing leaders at the top of Ligue 1 following the first five games, scoring 19 goals and conceding just 3 as they have lived up to their reputation of being clear pre-season favourites. That pressure also converts to the Champions League, with the captures of Mbappe and Neymar really making them one of the favourites to be crowned kings of Europe this time around. PSG boast an impressive record in the Champions League at home, going unbeaten in their last nine at home and have lost just once in their last twenty-four at the Parc des Princes.

Paris Saint Germain Team News

Angel di Maria (hamstring) is PSG’s only injury doubt, with Kevin Trapp, Dani Alves, Thiago Silva, Layvin Kurzawa and Marco Verratti all likely to return after being rested on Friday evening.
