Celtic Preview

Complacency got the better of a changed Celtic side at the weekend, as Brendan Rodgers saw his side fail to see off Kilmarnock following a 1-1 draw at Celtic Park. Leigh Griffiths gave the home side the lead just before half-time, but midfielder Jordan Jones responded with the equaliser on the hour mark to make it two excellent results for struggling Killie in as many games. For Celtic meanwhile, they allowed Aberdeen to close the gap at the top of the table to just a point following the dropped points, having gone three points clear at the top of the table with a 3-0 win at Pittodrie last time out. That game commenced what is a huge seven days or so for the club, with the Kilmarnock result perhaps an example of the team having one eye on this glamour tie with Bayern on Wednesday night. PSG are the only side to beat Celtic at home in the Champions League this season, having come through the playoff rounds unbeaten. Celtic will likely have their eyes on securing a place in the Europa League via a third-placed finish, something which was made especially realistic following their 3-0 win away to Anderlecht earlier in the group stages.

Celtic Team News

Jozo Simunovic and Patrick Roberts are both missing with hamstring strains. Erik Sviatchenko (knee) remains doubtful.

Bayern Munich Preview

Bayern Munich returned to the top of the Bundesliga table on Saturday after winning a top-of-the-table clash with RB Leipzig 2-0 at the Allianz Arena. Two first-half goals proved to be enough to see off their third-placed opponents, with both James Rodriguez and Robert Lewandowski getting their names on the scoresheet. Willi Orban’s 13th minute red card certainly helped the Bayern cause, as Jupp Heynckes’ men cruised to what proved to be a comfortable victory. Borussia Dortmund’s defeat at Hannover now sees Bayern sat three points clear at the top of the Bundesliga table - with this also being the first time they have been at the top of the table all season. There has been a distinct improvement in the team since Heynckes returned for a third spell as Bayern boss, winning all five matches in which he has took charge, four of which have come to nil. For all of Bayern’s incredible European pedigree, it’s slightly surprising to see that the team have won just two of their last nine away games in the Champions League, with it being their home form that has been most impressive. They trail group leaders PSG by three points after the Ligue 1 outfit came away from their meeting with a resounding 3-0 win at the Parc des Princes.

Bayern Munich Team News

Manuel Neuer (broken foot), Franck Ribery (knee) and Thomas Muller (thigh) are all missing through injury. Kingsley Coman (knee) and Robert Lewandowski (thigh) are both carrying knocks.
