Cardiff City vs Wolverhampton Wanderers Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Cardiff City’s miserable run against Everton at Goodison Park continued with a 1-0 defeat on Saturday. Gylfi Sigurdsson made his return to Everton’s starting line-up in style by scoring the only goal of the game in the second half, while Cardiff had just one shot on target. Wolves went five games without a win after a 2-0 loss against Huddersfield Town at the Molineux Stadium. Aaron Mooy scored after just six minutes to hand a decisive advantage for the visitors, while his second-half free-kick confirmed the victory against a poor Wolves team.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

There is little to separate Wolves and Cardiff when it comes to games on the Welsh soil. Both teams have managed an even share of the victories. Cardiff have reasons to be confident even after losing three out of the last four games. Warnock’s men do well at home and they are up against a Wolves team that has displayed signs of weakness in recent matches. I would opt for a double chance between a Cardiff win or Draw.

Wolves are not good with scoring plenty of goals. This is a game between two teams that have been almost similar in terms of finding the back of the net – Wolves have 12 goals compared to Cardiff’s 11 goals. This meeting has produced more of games with under 2.5 goals, which would be my choice for this match.

Cardiff City Preview

Warnock will have to place great hope in games at the Cardiff City Stadium considering the poor form experienced by the Welsh team when it comes to away matches. Cardiff were barely hanging on against Everton and ended up with figures of 29% possession. They were also unlikely to score in the game after managing just one shot on target. It is not a surprise from a team that has scored just two of their 11 league goals on the road. The performances of Josh Murphy and Callum Paterson do give hope for Cardiff in their efforts to avoid relegation. The two players have come up with five goals combined.

Cardiff City Team News

Kenneth Zohore (calf) and Ashley Richards (hamstring) are the two players unavailable for Neil Warnock.

Wolverhampton Wanderers Preview

Wolves have easily been one of the best-promoted teams but they have been going through a very poor patch of form for an extended period to give manager Nuno plenty of worries. Since the back-to-back wins over Southampton and Crystal Palace, Wolves have picked up just one point. The recent game against Huddersfield was probably Wolves’ worst performance of the campaign. This does not bode well for the team with games against the likes of Chelsea, Bournemouth, and Liverpool coming up. Wolves made too many individual mistakes and they also struggled when the midfield was put under pressure by Huddersfield. Nuno will have to find a way to overcome high pressing opponents and soon.

Wolverhampton Wanderers Team News

Johny (ligament) is the only player on the sidelines for Wolves.
