Cardiff City vs Watford Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Cardiff City were able to snatch three points from Southampton in extraordinary circumstances after a late 2-1 victory. Sol Bamba’s goal from a set-piece situation appeared to have given Cardiff an incredible way to victory before Jack Stephens equalised at the start of injury time. Stephens, though, gave away the ball cheaply in the last seconds of the match to witness the winner from Kenneth Zohore. Watford picked up a 1-0 away win over QPR to reach the quarter-finals of the FA Cup. Despite being put under pressure from the home team, a goal from Etienne Capoue just before the break proved to be the difference between the two teams.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Watford are quite good defensively but the offensive ideas of the team has taken a hit in recent weeks. Even though Watford have conceded only six goals in the last six matches, they have also scored only seven during this period. Cardiff are quite strong at home and the back-to-back successes will motivate the team even more. Neil Warnock’s men lack quality but they do make up in terms of effort. I would pick Cardiff to win the game or at least get a point.

The strength of Watford over the last few weeks has been a strong defence, but Cardiff do commit players even in away matches. The reverse fixture between these two clubs produced an entertaining game and my pick would be more of the same in this match.

Cardiff City Preview

An emotional couple of weeks for Cardiff have breathed a lot of hope into their league campaign with the team picking up back-to-back top-flight wins for the first time in 57 years. Cardiff have been able to jump out of the bottom three as a result of these crucial victories. It is now up to the team, who will be without an opportunity to strengthen the forward line up, to sustain this position. Cardiff have three home games in the next four meetings to give themselves the best hope of building on the recent results. After all, five out of the seven league wins for Cardiff this season have been at home.

Cardiff City Team News

Ashley Richards (hamstring), Sean Morrison (abdominal injury), and Matthew Connelly (illness) are unavailable for Cardiff.

Watford Preview

Watford have been able to claim some important victories over the last few weeks, but there have been too many stalemates for the Hornets. Even then, Javi Gracia has seen the team make an incredible rise up the table to a very strong position. Watford now can even make a push for the Europa League places, although a smaller squad does hamper the ability to make a significant impact in Europe. Watford have a difficult run of games coming up with the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City as some of their opponents over the next five matches.

Watford Team News

Kiko (hamstring) and Isaac Success (hamstring) are unavailable for the Watford due to injuries, while José Holebas is unavailable due to suspension.
