Cardiff City vs Hull City Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Saturday early evening (17:30) game is live on SKYTV and features two sides who have had mixed Championship seasons so far. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats. Cardiff came from two goals behind with seven minutes remaining to rescue a point against Reading on Monday evening. Joe Bennett and Lee Tomlin netted to give the Bluebirds a point that allows them to keep pace with Wolves at the top of the table. Hull won their first game under manager Nigel Adkins coming out on top 3-2 at the KC Stadium against Brentford. Kamil Grosicki, Seb Larsson and Jackson Irvine all grabbed one each to give the Tigers an important three points. The Tigers have a good record in their recent head-to-heads winning each of the last three and going unbeaten in five. The Bluebirds have in fact failed to find the net in any of their last three against Hull.

Betting Tips and Predictions

As strong as their home form has been this season I cannot bring myself to back Cardiff at such a short price. They have quite a few injuries and were a little lucky to get anything from the game with Reading last time out.   Given that both teams score around 60% of their goals in the second-half backing the last 45 minutes to be the highest scoring looks the sensible play. In addition, back the game to have a late goal (set at after 73:59) which has happened in three of the last four for the Bluebirds and 13 of the last 14 for the Tigers.

Cardiff City Preview

The Bluebirds saw their four-game winning run come to an end last time out but are still unbeaten in five and have lost just two of their last 14. They sit in second place going into the weekend four behind leaders Wolves and four ahead of Bristol City in third. At the Cardiff City Stadium, they have been excellent this season with seven victories and just three draws from their ten played. They have kept clean-sheets in three of their last five at their own ground and conceded just two in these matches. Around 63% of the goals they have scored this season have come in the second-half and each of their last five. The Welsh outfit have the best defensive record in the division with just 16 goals conceded.

Cardiff City Team News

Sean Morrison (unknown), Kadeem Harris (ankle), Rhys Healey (cruciate), Craig Bryson (unknown), Aron Gunnarsson (ankle), Danny Ward (unknown) and Lee Camp (groin) are doubts while Jazz Richards (ankle) and Kenneth Zohore (heel) are long-term absentees.

Hull City Preview

It was a nice start for Nigel Adkins as Tigers boss as their victory over Brentford was their first since October 21st and only their fifth of the season. They are in 18th place and face a tricky run with their next three against teams in the top eight and then the fourth against a Fulham side climbing up the table. Away from the KC Stadium, they have drawn their last two and have lost just one of their last six. Adkins must improve a road attack that has scored just nine times and a travelling defence that has shipped 18 times. Seven of their last eight fixtures have seen both teams find the back of the net and gone over 2.5 goals. 12 of the last 14 goals in Hull matches have come in the second-half and eight of these in the final 20 minutes.

Hull City Team News

Jarrod Bowen (knee), Max Clark (knock), Stephen Kingsley (groin), Will Keane (knee), Abel Hernandez (Achilles) and Moses Odubajo (knee) are doubts. Ryan Mason (fractured skull) and James Weir (knee) are long-term absentees.
