Cardiff City vs AFC Bournemouth Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Cardiff City suffered a 15th league defeat of the campaign following a 2-1 loss against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang broke the deadlock with his penalty in the 66th minute, while Alexandre Lacazette was able to double the advantage in the 83rd minute. A late goal from Nathaniel Mendez-Laing was only a consolation for Cardiff. Bournemouth picked up one of their best result of the campaign after thrashing Chelsea 4-0 at home. The Blues had several good opportunities in the first half, but a brace from Joshua King came either side of a goal from David Brooks to destroy Chelsea in the second-half. A late goal from Charlie Daniels made it a huge win for Bournemouth.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Bournemouth were able to achieve a comfortable win over Cardiff in the previous game. However, the Bluebirds are a strong opponent at home, where they have picked up four out of the five victories this season. Incredibly, Cardiff have never been able to get a home win over Bournemouth and it is unlikely that this trend will change anytime soon with Cardiff’s relegation worries deepening with every week. I would opt for a game with an away win.

The second half against Chelsea saw an inspired performance from the Cherries, who could have easily conceded goals in the early part of the game. However, the confidence from the win over Chelsea will be immense and Cardiff’s defensive woes could see this game witness over 2.5 goals.

Cardiff City Preview

Cardiff have been offering very little over the last few weeks, as the momentum built up by the wins over the likes of Wolves, Brighton, and Southampton in the months of November and December is slowly slipping away. The Cardiff team has been going through a terrible run of late but one of the few consolations for Neil Warnock’s men is that the team are not in danger of being cut off. The incident surrounding Emiliano Sala will take time to heal, but Cardiff need to keep picking up results in the meantime. The club have three home games in the next four matches to increase the likelihood of picking up points.

Cardiff City Team News

Ashley Richards (hamstring), Sean Morrison (abdominal injury), and Matthew Connolly (illness) are unavailable for the Bluebirds.

AFC Bournemouth Preview

After struggling a lot for form and confidence in the last few months, Bournemouth received the perfect drug to get them through into the business end of the campaign. The big victory over Chelsea will resonate for the next few weeks and it has the potential to help Bournemouth climb back into the top half of the table. Manager Eddie Howe will also be awaiting the impact of players like Dominic Solanke, while the club will also be pleased about retaining Callum Wilson amidst serious interest from the Blues.

AFC Bournemouth Team News

David Brooks (knock), Jefferson Lerma (ankle), Callum Wilson (knee), Lewis Cook (cruciate ligament), and Simon Francis (cruciate ligament) are unavailable for Bournemouth.
