Cambridge United vs Leeds United Match Prediction

By Marius Hrebenciuc

Cambridge United and Leeds United will square off at the R Costings Abbey Stadium on Monday night, with both teams looking to progress in the 4th round of the FA Cup. Cambridge United managed a comfortable 4-0 home win over Notts County last time out in League Two thanks to a brace from Luke Berry and two other goals from Uche Ikpeazu and Piero Mingoia. Leeds United also picked up a 3-0 home victory against Rotherham United last time out in the Championship. A brace from Chris Wood and an excellent strike by Kyle Bartley were enough for Garry Monk’s side to pick up all three points. Below we have our betting tips, predictions, team news and match stats all in our SBAT preview.

Cambridge United Preview

Cambridge United have enjoyed a decent run of form over the past two months, having lost just two of their last ten games across all competitions. The U’s enter the fray on the back of a five-game unbeaten streak in League Two, including an impressive 4-0 home victory over Notts County on Monday afternoon. This lifts Cambridge United in 7th position in the league table tied on 38 points with the 6th-placed Luton. United’s home form throughout this competitive season has been a complete mixed bag, but it appears they have found some consistency of late. The U’s are currently on a four-game winning streak across all competitions in front of their own fans, having scored at least two goals in each of these. Cambridge United managed a decent tally of 35 goals so far this season, which is one of the best offensive records in League Two. Regarding their current FA Cup campaign, the U’s already managed two victories so far, including a heavy 4-0 win over the League One side Coventry City. It has to be said that Cambridge United managed to reach the 4th round of this competition back in 2014-15, in which was their best performance ever in the FA Cup. A player to watch for Cambridge United is Luke Berry, as the 24-year-old midfielder is currently leading the club’s goalscoring charts with 10 goals in his 23 appearances in League Two.

Leeds United Preview

Leeds United have also been in great shape recently, winning four and drawing once in their last five games in the Championship. Garry Monk’s boys looked incredibly strong at the back during their recent run, conceding just two goals in the last five league fixtures. Leeds currently stand in 5th place in the league table with 45 points to their name after 25 rounds, just one point off the 3rd-placed Reading. The Whites’ secret for their good performances throughout this Championship campaign has been their solid defence, as they only conceded 24 goals in 25 league fixtures. On the road, Leeds have been in a complete mixed bag with eight victories, five defeats and one draw in their last 14 away fixtures in all competitions. Furthermore, Leeds have scored at least two goals in three of their last six away games across all competitions. The bad news is that Leeds’ recent record in the FA Cup has been awful, as they have lost four of their last six games in the competition. Last year, Leeds reached the 5th round of the competition when they were beaten 1-0 on the road at Watford.

Leeds United Team News

Lewie Coyle and Charlie Taylor are both doubts, but Bailey Peacock-Farrell is out through a hand injury. The good news is that Eunan O’Kane is back in training following his groin strain.

Betting Predictions and Tips

Leeds United are hot favourites to progress in the 4th round of the FA Cup, but Cambridge United have enjoyed a decent run of form of late and I’m expecting them to get on the scoresheet. To strengthen up this prediction, it has to be said that Cambridge United have been in fantastic shape at home, while Leeds haven’t kept too many clean sheets on the road.
