Caen vs Troyes Match Prediction

By Marius Hrebenciuc

Caen welcome Troyes at the Stade Michel d’Ornano on Saturday night, with both teams looking to get back to winning ways in Ligue 1. Caen suffered a 2-0 defeat on the road at the reigning champions Monaco last weekend, with Patrice Garande’s men conceding a goal in each half. On the other hand, Troyes have been thrashed 0-5 at home by Lyon, in a game in which they delivered just three shots on target. Below we have our betting tips, predictions, team news, match stats and odds all in our SBAT preview. Feel free to visit our Bet of the day page to check our best daily tips.

Betting Predictions and Tips

Troyes have been a strong side on the road over the past few months, but Caen have won three of their five home meetings with them. It’s a tricky game, but I’m expecting a low-scoring affair as these two teams have only bagged 16 goals between them so far this season.

Caen Preview

Caen were on a two-game winning streak in Ligue 1 prior to the International break, but they now enter the fray on the back of two consecutive 2-0 defeats at the hands of Angers and Monaco. Overall, Caen had a decent start to the season and currently sit 9th in the standings tied on 15 points with the 8th-placed Montpellier, just three points behind the top five. Caen’s secret for their good performances throughout this campaign has been their solid defence as they only conceded eight goals in ten rounds. At the other end of the pitch, Caen only managed seven goals so far this season, including three from their last season’s topscorer Ivan Santini. At home, Caen were on a three-game winning streak in Ligue 1 prior to their 0-2 loss against Angers in their most recent home league fixture. Furthermore, Caen have won three of their last five home meetings with Troyes across all competitions, scoring at least two goals in four of these. Head-to-head, Caen are undefeated in their last three meetings with Troyes across all competitions, scoring at least two goals in two of these.

Caen Team News

Romain Genevois, Vincent Bessat and Alexander Djiku are all missing through injury, while Florian Le Joncour is a doubt. The good news is that Jeff Louis is back in training following his knee injury.

Troyes Preview

On the other hand, Troyes’ three-game unbeaten streak in Ligue 1 ended disappointingly at the weekend, as they lost 0-5 at home at the hands of Lyon. This leaves Troyes only in 13th in the Ligue 1 table tied on 12 points with the 12th-placed Angers, just three points clear of the drop zone. Scoring goals has been Troyes’ main problem throughout this early part of the season as they only managed nine goals in ten league fixtures. Away from home, Troyes have enjoyed a strong run of form over the past six months, having lost just once in their last nine games across all competitions. Actually, Troyes have only lost once in five league trips so far this season and are currently on a two-game unbeaten streak. The bad news is that Troyes have only won once in their five visits to the Stade Michel d’Ornano. In addition, Troyes lost both home and away at the hands of Caen last season, conceding at least two goals in each of these. Samuel Grandsir and Adama Niane have been Troyes’ most prolific players in front of goal so far this season, as the pair bagged four goals and four assists between them.

Troyes Team News

Stephane Darbion is a doubt, but Benjamin Nivet is out through injury. In addition, Christophe Herelle is suspended.
