Caen vs Dijon Match Prediction

By Marius Hrebenciuc

Caen and Dijon will be facing each other at the Stade Michel d’Ornano on Saturday evening, with both teams looking to build on their recent victories in Ligue 1. Caen managed a narrow 1-0 home win over Metz last time out, with Ronny Rodelin scoring the winner in the first five minutes of the second half. On the other hand, Dijon won 2-1 at home over Montpellier thanks to a brace from Benjamin Jeannot. Below we have our betting tips, predictions, team news and match stats all in our SBAT preview.

Betting Predictions and Tips

Caen head into this tie high on confidence following their recent two victories in Ligue 1, but Dijon have also enjoyed a good run of form recently. It’s difficult to separate these two sides as three of the last four meetings between them have ended in draws. I’m expecting a high-scoring affair though, as five of the last six meetings between these two teams have ended with at least four goals scored.

Caen Preview

Caen suffered back-to-back 1-0 defeats at the hands of Montpellier and Saint-Etienne in the opening two games of the new season, but they bounced back with two successive victories over Lille and Metz prior to the International break. Although they hfailed to find the back of the net in their first two games of the new Ligue 1 campaign, Caen have looked much better recently as they managed to score three goals and conceded none in their last two league fixtures. This lifts Caen to eighth spot in the league table tied on six points with other three teams, just two points behind 5th-placed Bordeaux. Caen were a solid side on home soil last term despite having been involved in a relegation battle. However, their recent home form has seen them win seven and lose eleven of their last 18 home fixtures across all competitions. The good news is that Caen are undefeated in their last eight home meetings with Dijon across all competitions, scoring at least two goals in six of these. Head-to-head, Caen are winless in the last four meetings with Dijon across all competitions, conceding at least two goals in each of these.

Caen Team News

Jeff Louis and Baissama Sankoh are both doubts, but Herve Bazile, Ismael Diomande, Mouhamadou Dabo and Vincent Bessat are all out through injury. The good news is that Nicolas Seube is back in training following his thigh injury.

Dijon Preview

Dijon, on the flip side, finally managed to get their first victory of the new Ligue 1 season prior to the International break as they beat Montpellier 2-1 at home, with Benjamin Jeannot scoring a brace. Prior to this win, Dijon recorded two defeats and a draw, conceding at least two goals in each of these. Conceding has been their main issue throughout this Ligue 1 campaign, as they hold the second worst defensive record in the division with ten goals allowed in four rounds. They sit in 16th position in the standings tied on four points with other five teams, just one point clear of the bottom three. Away from home, Dijon have only won once in their last twelve games across all competitions and are winless in ten league trips. Dijon ailed to win on the road in this early part of the season, registering a 3-0 defeat at Marseille along with a 2-2 draw at Rennes. The only good news is that Dijon managed to score at least once in 13 of their last 15 away games across all competitions. Head-to-head, Dijon are undefeated in the last four meetings with Caen across all competitions, scoring at least two goals in each of these.

Dijon Team News

Mehdi Abeid and Wesley Lautoa are both out through injury, while Eden Massouema is a doubt.
