Burton Albion vs Wolverhampton Wanderers Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Saturday afternoon (15:00) game features two sides at different ends of the Championship table. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats. Burton were beaten 4-0 by Aston Villa in midweek in a game that they found themselves two down after 16 minutes and three behind in 32. The shot data suggests the Brewers were harshly treated as everything their opponents hit seem to go in. Wolves were in action on Wednesday evening and they suffered a 2-0 loss at Bramall Lane. They can have few complaints as the Blades proved why they are the form team though having Conor Coady dismissed after just 15 minutes did not help matters. The game at the Pirelli Stadium last season ended 2-1 to the home side with Michael Kightly, Cauley Woodrow and Helder Costa (penalty) getting the goals. It was the only second time in their history that the pair had met.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Wolves are the most likely winners but at those prices they do not represent any value. You could look to enhance this but Burton are no mugs at their own ground and they reacted well to their hammering last time out. Given that 60% of the goals the visitors have scored have come in the second-half and the hosts will react to that loss by going safe at the back I think an interest on the time of the Wolves first team goal not coming before 45:00 looks the play. Wanderers should finally break through but it could come later than the odds suggest. If you think Burton will keep things tight and that Wolves can break through later then it is also sensible to take a play on the Black Country outfit to net more of their goals in the second 45 minutes.

Burton Albion Preview

After ten games, it is nine points for the Brewers whose goal this season is going to be simply just to stay up. Their last seven fixtures have produced mixed results with two victories, three draws and two defeats. At home, that midweek loss at home to Villa put to an end a run of seven points from the previous three fixtures. Each of their last four in front of their own fans has gone over 2.5 goals. In four of their last five matches they have failed to find the back of the net while in two of their last four they have kept clean sheets. 66% of their goals have come in the second-half though none have come in the final 15 minutes.

Burton Albion Team News

Liam Boyce (cruciate) is out until the new-year.

Wolverhampton Wanderers Preview

After four games, it is 20 points from Wanderers who sat in fourth place going into this round of fixtures. They will look to put together another unbeaten run like the five game one they were on before defeat in midweek. On the road, they have taken ten points from a possible 15 with that one defeat coming last time out against Sheffield United. Diogo Jota has netted three times in his last three away from Molineux. 60% of the goals they have netted have come in the second-half with 40% of them in the final 15 minutes. They average 1.5 goals scored per match and 1.1 goals conceded per match.

Wolverhampton Wanderers Team News

Conor Coady will miss the game through suspension while Carl Ikeme and Willy Boly (both hamstring) may not feature.  Phil Ofosu-Ayeh (hip) will be out until January at the earliest.
