Burton Albion vs Nottingham Forest Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Saturday afternoon (15:00) fixture features two sides in the bottom half of the Championship. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

It was a point last time out for Burton who drew 0-0 on the road at Ipswich Town. The expected goals data shows that Albion were the better team in that game and if any side did enough to claim victory it was them. Nottingham Forest suffered a third straight league defeat as they lost 2-0 at home to Hull last time out. Forest found themselves two down after 38 minutes and were never in a game that the Tigers dominated. The reverse fixture came came on October 21st and it was the Tricky Trees who that one 2-0 thanks to goals from Barry McKay and Eric Lichaj. It continues a head-to-head trend that has seen all three previous meetings won by the home team.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Forest are favourites to win this game but you would need to be crazy to take the odds on the away victory given they have won one of their last eight though it is hard to side with Albion given no home victory in 11. 17 of the 31 Burton have played this season have been level going into the break and this looks worth a small interest. In addition, take a small play on the highest scoring half to be the second one.

Burton Albion Preview

The Brewers put to an end a four-game losing run with a point at Ipswich last time but are still bottom of the table. This marks the first of a three-match sequence against teams in the bottom ten and a chance to pick up some points. At the Pirelli Stadium, they have been awful losing ten and drawing just one of their last 11 fixtures. The 33 goals they have shipped at their own ground is ten more than any other side in the division. Five of the last six Burton have played in the Championship and seven of their last nine have gone over 2.5 goals. Just 12% of the goals they have scored this season have come in the first 30 minutes and 37% in the opening half.

Burton Albion Team News

Tom Flanagan, Ben Turner (both calf injuries) and Luke Murphy (shin) are doubts while Willie Miller (knee) is a long-term absentee for the Brewers.

Nottingham Forest Preview

It is now three straight league defeats for Forest and just one victory in their last ten Championship outings. They sit in 16th place just seven points above the bottom three and are not safe just yet. Away from the City Ground, they have lost just one of their last four though have also won just one of their last eight. Only Sunderland (32) have conceded more road goals than the 27 the Tricky Trees have shipped this season on their travels. None of the last eight for Nottingham Forest in the league have seen both teams score with the East Midlands outfit blanking in seven of these. Over 50% of the goals they have scored in the league this season have come in the 15 minutes prior to half-time or the end of the game.

Nottingham Forest Team News

Liam Bridcutt (groin) and Jamie Ward (hamstring) are doubts.
