Burton Albion vs Norwich City Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Saturday (30th) afternoon (15:00) fixture features two sides in the bottom-half of the table. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats. Burton went down to a 2-1 home defeat to Leeds United on Boxing Day in a game that had seen them take a 29th minute lead. Tom Naylor was the goalscorer but the Brewers were undone by two goals in four minutes. Norwich picked up an important three points on the 26th December as they won 2-0 away to Birmingham. Alex Pritchard gave them a first-half lead and then turned creator to set up Josh Murphy to wrap up all three points. The reverse fixture came in September and it ended in a goalless draw at Carrow Road. The two meetings last season saw Albion win 2-1 at the Pirelli Stadium while City won 3-1 at Carrow Road.

Betting Tips and Predictions

I think Norwich might win this game but a more sensible approach is to take them in the team goals markets rather than the match market. We know the Brewers are shipping goals with at least two conceded in each of their last eight at home so back the Canaries to go over 1.5 goals and then a smaller interest on the 2.5 goals.

Norwich to go over 1.5 goals

Norwich over 2.5 goals

Burton Albion saw over 1.5 goals in 10 out of their last 10 games played

Burton Albion have conceeded only 4 goals in their last 4 games against Norwich City

Norwich City saw over 1.5 goals in 9 out of their last 10 games played

Norwich City have conceeded only 3 goals in their last 4 games against Burton Albion

Burton Albion Preview

The Brewers have won two and lost one of their last three which has allowed them to climb to 21st and just outside the relegation zone. It is tight at the bottom with just six points separating the bottom six. At the Pirelli Stadium, they have struggled losing each of their last eight and have conceded at least two goals in each of these games. They are also struggling to score in front of their own fans netting just six times in these eight matches. 12 of the 24 Burton have played have seen over 2.5 goals and 12 have seen under 2.5 and they average right in the middle at 2.5 goals per fixture. Tom Naylor has netted two in two appearances though these are his only goals for the season.

Burton Albion Team News

Liam Boyce (cruciate) is a long-term absentee while Joe Mason (appendix) and Matty Lund (illness) are doubts.

Norwich City Preview

It is now two victories from their last four for the Canaries who are showing signs of recovery after a run before that of seven without a victory. They sit in 15th place both 11 points from the play-offs and the relegation places. Away from Carrow Road, they had lost four straight in the league but won at Birmingham on their last road trip. Just one of their last four and four of their last 11 on the road have seen both teams find the back of the net. Around two-thirds of the league goals Norwich have scored this season have come in the second-half with 33% in the final 15 minutes. 15 of their 24 have gone under 2.5 goals while they average just 2.25 goals per fixture.

Norwich City Team News

Wes Hoolahan (hip), Cameron Jerome (back); Steven Naismith, (groin) and Matt Jarvis (ankle) are doubts. Remi Matthews (shin) and Louis Thompson (Achilles) are long-term absentees
