Burton Albion vs Ipswich Town Match Prediction

By Gary Gillles

This Saturday afternoon (15:00) fixture features two side in the bottom six of the Championship form table. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats. Burton are now five league games without a victory after going down 2-0 to Nottingham Forest at the City Ground last time out. The Brewers can probably consider themselves a little unlucky as there was little to choose between them and Forest on the expected goals data. Ipswich also last time out going down to a 1-0 defeat at their own ground in the East Anglian derby. The Tractor Boys more chances than Norwich but were undone by a well-drilled Canaries unit. The meeting between these two at the Pirelli Stadium last season ended in a 2-1 Ipswich victory as Town did the double over Burton. Freddie Sears enjoyed these games last season netting in both.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Ipswich will be popular to win this game but I think I will take a chance on the home side given their record at the Pirelli Stadium against teams outside of the top six. Fulham and Birmingham lost here while Wednesday were held and these sides are probably just as good if not better than Town. I will take the security of the draw no bet though as the home side are a concern in terms of goalscorers. Just one goal in their last three for the Suffolk side while the Brewers have blanked in each of their last five so taking NO in the both teams to score market looks the sensible way to approach this match.

Burton Albion Preview

A run of two points from their last five in the league has seen the Brewers drop into the bottom three. If they are to climb out of the relegation zone they must take advantage of a run of fixtures that sees each of their next three and five of their next six against teams in the bottom-half of the table. At the Pirelli Stadium, it has been a mixed bag with two victories, one draw and three defeats from six. These defeats have come against teams in the top six but in the other three matches against teams not in the top six they have taken seven points. The six goals they have netted is the lowest in the league while the 25 they have conceded is along with Sunderland the worst record in the division. Just one-third of their goals have come in the first-half with 66% of them coming in the 15 minutes before and after the half-time break.

Burton Albion Team News

Liam Boyce remains out until the new-year with a cruciate issue.

Ipswich Town Preview

It is now three straight defeats for the Tractor Boys and six in their last eight as they have dropped to mid-table. They sat in 11th place going into the weekend and this looks like their best chance of picking up three points ahead of a tricky run of games. Away from Portman Road, they have played five times this season and won two of these and lost three. Their defeats have come in each of their last three though they have won two of three against teams in the bottom-half. Ipswich are one of the highest scoring teams in the division but are struggling lately with just two in their last three. They are slow starters and if the league was decided on results going into the interval they would be as low as 20th.

Ipswich Town Team News

Emyr Huws (Achilles) and Tommy Smith (back) are doubts while the game will come too soon for Ted Bishop (groin), Luke Hyam (knee). Andre Dozzell (knee) is a long-term absentee.
