Burton Albion vs Hull City Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Tuesday evening (19:45) fixture is an important one at the bottom end of the Championship.  Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Burton picked up their second successive draw as they battled out a 1-1 draw at Birmingham thanks to a Lloyd Dyer goal.  They were three minutes away from taking all three points though that would have been harsh on the Blues who dominated.

Hull moved closer to safety with a big home victory over QPR that saw them net four without reply.  The goals were shared around with one each for Harry Wilson, Kamil Grosicki, Abel Hernandez and an own-goal.

The reverse fixture came in August and marked the first occasion that these sides had ever met.  The Tigers won that 4-1 thanks to an Abel Hernandez hat-trick and one from Kamil Grosicki while Jackson Irvine had a mixed afternoon netting only to be dismissed five minutes later.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Hull are the strong favourites for the game though a recent 3-0 loss at Birmingham would put me off backing them.  I could not though be siding with a Burton side without a victory in 16 at their own ground.

The Brewers must start winning and going for games and this has showed recently as they have netted in their last four while the Tigers showed by hitting four at the weekend they have goals in them so both teams to score looks the play.  This is another in a series of games where the second-half could go crazy as Albion try to chase goals and the Tigers have talent on the break to exploit this.

YES in the both teams to score market

Second-half to be the highest scoring 45 minutes

Burton Albion Preview

The Brewers are now eight without a victory with five of these ending in defeat and they sit bottom of the table.  They are seven points away from safety with just five fixtures remaining and their task looks tough.

At the Pirelli Stadium, it is a remarkable 16 without a victory though they must find some home form as three of their next four are in front of their own fans.  A lack of goals is an issue with just one netted at their own ground in the five prior to this.

Lloyd Dyer has netted two in his last four and Albion need him to keep this up as they have struggled for a reliable scorer all season.  Along with Bristol City they top the table for being ahead at half-time with 22 out of 41.

Burton Albion Team News

Darren McCrory (unknown) is a doubt while Willie Miller is a long-term absentee.

Hull City Preview

No defeat in their last three and just one loss in their last six has seen the Tigers stagger to almost certain safety.  They are up to 18th and there is seven points between them and the bottom three.

Away from the KC Stadium, they have had a mixed time of things with two victories, one draw and one defeat.  Each of their last four and five of their last six on the road have gone over 2.5 goals.

Harry Wilson has played eight times in the Championship this season and he has netted in four of them.  Just 15 of the 44 points Hull have claimed this campaign have come on the road.

Hull City Team News

Evandro (unknown) and Moses Odubajo (knee) are doubts. James Weir (also knee) is a long-term absentee.
