Burton Albion vs Brentford Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Tuesday evening (19:45) game features two sides who found their scheduled weekend fixture postponed. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Burton were scheduled to play Sheffield United at Bramall Lane on Saturday but the tie fell victim to the weather. This means the last time they were in action was February 24th when they suffered a 1-0 home defeat to Millwall. Brentford also saw their game cancelled because of the poor weather conditions and they were scheduled to host Cardiff. The last time they played a game was February 24th when they lost 1-0 away to Leeds. The reverse fixture came in November at Griffin Park and it ended in a 1-1 draw their first ever competitive meeting that has ended all-square. Florian Jozefzoon had given the Bees the lead only for Ben Turner to put the Brewers level 12 minutes from time and that was where the scoring ended.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Brentford are the strong favourites to win this game and while I think they are the most likely winners given the poor home form of Burton I could not be siding with them at these prices so I will look elsewhere for the bets. Ten of 17 at the Pirelli Stadium in the league this season have been level at half-time and given that 64% of the Bees goals have come in the second-half I am backing the game to be level at the break and the second 45 minutes to be the highest scoring half.

Burton Albion Preview

It has been a mixed bag of late for Albion with one victory, two draws and one defeat from their last four. They in 23rd place with a tough run ahead that sees each of their next five against top ten sides. At the Pirelli Stadium, they have not won a league game since September 16th and have taken a league low nine points in front of their own fans. The 34 they have conceded at their own ground is six higher than any other side in the division. The last four Burton matches have produced a total of just four goals with two of these ending 0-0. Lloyd Dyer with five goals is the leading Brewers league scorer this season with the next highest having netted just three times.

Burton Albion Team News

Jake Buxton (knock), Marvin Sordell (toe), John Brayford, Tom Flanagan and Ben Turner (all calf injuries) are doubts while Willie Miller (knee) is a long-term absentee for the Brewers.

Brentford Preview

The Bees have also had a mixed set of results with two victories, one draw and one defeat from their last four. They sit in tenth place seven points behind the play-offs but with a game in hand. Away from Griffin Park, they have won three and lost three of their last six though the defeats came at the top 12 sides and the victories at bottom 12 sides. None of their last five on the road has seen both teams find the back of the net. 64% of the league goals Brentford have scored this season have come in the second-half with 42% in the final 30 minutes. Five of their last seven league fixtures have gone under 2.5 goals.

Brentford Team News

Rico Henry (knee) is a long-term absentee while Nico Yennaris (illness) is a doubt.
