Burton Albion vs Aston Villa Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Tuesday evening (19:45) game features two sides who are in good form in the Championship. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats. Burton stretched their unbeaten run to three games with a hard-fought point away at Loftus Road. They created little but managed to keep QPR at bay and record a second consecutive away clean-sheet. Aston Villa made it back-to-back victories with a 2-1 home victory over Nottingham Forest on Saturday evening. The result probably flattered Villa but they will not mind as they took all three points thanks to a goal each from Conor Hourihane and Albert Adomah. It finished all-square when these sides met at the Pirelli Stadium last season with Jonathan Kodjia and Lloyd Dyer getting the goals. This marked just the second competitive meeting between the duo with the other coming at Villa Park earlier in the season in a game that the Villains won 2-1.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Both sides are in decent form but the prices suggest Villa should win this comfortably which under-estimates a home side who have beaten Fulham and Birmingham here while have points against Norwich, Sheffield Wednesday and QPR recently. I think they need to be backed with the draw in the double chance market given that Villa have won just three of their last 15 on their travels. The Brewers have shut out Norwich and QPR in recent weeks and given that the visitors have failed to score in two of their last four they look worth a shout to keep a clean-sheet here.

Burton Albion Preview

The Brewers sit in 19th place with nine points from nine games and come into the game on a decent run of form. A 5-0 loss to Leeds was a turning point as Nigel Clough has tightened them up at the back and two of their three league fixtures since then have ended 0-0 with the other a 2-1 victory over Fulham. At home, the form is strong with two victories, one draw and an opening day defeat against Cardiff. Both teams to score has happened in each of their last three at their own ground with a total of two or three goals. Burton need to find a consistent goalscorer with no player having netted more than one league goal this season. 66% of their league goals this campaign have come in the second-half though none of these in the final 15 minutes.

Burton Albion Team News

Liam Boyce will not return before 2018 with a cruciate ligament injury.

Aston Villa Preview

After a slow start to the season Villa have suddenly come into form going six games unbeaten in the league with victories in their last two. They sit in tenth place and they have two winnable fixtures upcoming (they face Bolton at the weekend). On the road, the Midlands outfit lost their first two this season but since then have taken four points from trips to Barnsley and Bristol City. Each of their three on the road have produced a total of two or three goals. Albert Adomah is a player in form with three goals in his last two league games and four in the last five in competitions. They have netted in the first 20 minutes in each of their last two in the Championship.

Aston Villa Team News

Gabby Agbonlahor (groin) and Andre Green (hamstring) are closing in on returns while the game will likely come too soon for Henri Lansbury (knee), Mile Jedinak (groin), Rushian Hepburn-Murphy (thigh) and Jack Grealish (hip).
