Burnley Preview

Just how Burnley have made such a stark improvement away from home this season is still something of a mystery, but Sean Dyche won’t care one but as his team continues to pick up results on the road. Everton were the victims of their success this time round, as the Clarets left the Goodison Park faithful baying for blood by the end of their 90 minute contest. A well-worked move enabled midfielder Jeff Hendrick to score the game’s only goal after 21 minutes, and their work on the training ground came to fruition as Dyche’s well-drilled side held firm at the back for the win. The victory means Burnley have now won two and drawn two from their four away games this season - a feat made all the more impressive when considering their opponents have been Chelsea, Tottenham, Liverpool and Everton. Their home form hasn’t quite been as impressive in comparison, winning just one of their first three league games at Turf Moor, scoring just one goal in the process. That said, it’s difficult to imagine that the positive results they have consistently been securing away from home of late won’t give them the confidence to start winning consistently at home once again.

Burnley Team News

Tom Heaton (dislocated shoulder) is still missing, so Nick Pope will continue in goal. Jonathan Walters (knee) is a doubt, although both Dean Marney (cruciate ligament) and Nahki Wells (ankle) are back in training.

West Ham United Preview

Few Premier League teams were in more desperate need for a victory than West Ham United in the final weekend before the international break and Slaven Bilic will feel as if he owes Diafra Sakho a real debt of gratitude following their 1-0 win over Swansea City. Bilic switched to a more traditional 4-4-2, allowing Andy Carroll and Javier Hernandez to start as a pair up front, but it seemed it ultimately would make no difference to their toothless attack, until Sakho replaced the latter with 12 minutes remaining, along with Arthur Masuaku. Masuaku crossed for Sakho to turn home a 90th minute winner in spite of what was a truly uninspiring performance. The win was just West Ham’s second of this Premier League season, as they continue to show small sample signs that they are beginning to adapt to the London Stadium. The Hammers have won three of their four matches in all competitions at home so far this season, as well as coming close to salvaging a late point against Tottenham Hotspur. It’s clear that the improvement must come away from home, where they have taken just one point from a possible 12 at the start of this campaign, conceding ten goals in their four games on the road.

West Ham United Team News

James Collins, Edimilson Fernandes (both ankle) and Pedro Obiang (muscle) are all missing for the away side this weekend.
